Kilkenny should be barred for their own sake until they put emphasis on football. This is not right nor is it good for anyone!

Not sure why this farce is allowed to happen. How do they even convince lads to tog? They are just doing it for funding I presume?

I think it is a disgrace the way Kilkenny treat football. Why bother sending out a team if they have no interest. One point in 60 minutes is all Kilkennys best 15 footballers could muster up.And to fix our Leinster championship opener v Laois/Wicklow in Kilkenny city is pathetic.I

Wexford have suffered many a beating at the hands of Kilkenny in hurling so no doubt they don't care about what state Kilkenny football is in.
They put the scores on the board Kilkenny didn't.

I said it when the fixture was announced that i wouldn't spend one cent on the local Kilkenny economy for our Leinster championship game.I wouldn't set foot in the town for a football game.

A croke park official should be put in place to ensure a certain amount is spent on football. A percentage of revenue dedicated to football?

Joncarter, this thread is about this 70 point beating dolled out to a hapless Kilkenny football team. The county can't even field a senior team.Fair enough,if they hate football they hate it,nothing we can do about it.But why send out a team to be beaten by 70 points(have i calculated it right, because i never remember a beating like it),and why reward Kilkenny city/town with a bumper payday, high profile Leinster football championship game with the Dubs involved?

Read the Fermanagh hurling thread, lads. It's the same for hurling there (& in at least 7 or 8 other counties) as it is for football in Kilkenny.

Fair enough cued, maybe they should just pack in the big ball game, and a hammering like that is ridiculous, but as long as these threads are around Ill never stop reminding people of the contempt with which hurling is treated in many counties around the country.

Both sets of players lost out today, kilkenny obviously did and i'd imagine with that scoreline little or no preparation went into their team, its not right for 16,17 and 18 year olds to be put in that situation, once they entered a team there county board should have given them help and resources whereby they can be competitive to some sort of extent and not be hung out to dry and suffer a humiliation like that, if they cant be competitive they shouldn't enter a team simple as that. wexford have lost out as there next game is a knock out quarter final and they learned nothing from today. its a complete no win situation

National Sport of Ireland is Hurling NOT football & the majority of Ireland's counties have forgotten this ,Kilkenny are promoting a far superior sport & the counties mistreating hurling should be dealt with first ,

the hurling/football debate is irrelevant to me here, what bothers me is a bunch of 16,17 and 18 year olds been humilated and hung out to dry

Lads,i've played on some bad teams over the years but i find it hard to imagine how a team could lose by 70 points.I presume there was 15 young, healthy Kilkenny men on the field today ; how is it even possible to lose by that scoreline?

If Kilkenny had sent out their minor hurling team to play, they wouldn't have lost by 20 points

Kilkenny county board are shameless to allow one of their teams take the field as ill prepared as that. Always going to be mismatches in sport ,that's the nature of things, but this went way further than that.
No reason that Kilkenny cannot find a panel of players capable of being competitive if the will is there from the county board within the county to support them.
They should be brought in front of Croke Park and asked to explain themselves. If they are not prepared to start showing some action they should start having funding withdrawn. Will soon see some action I'd say.
Feel for the panel of players and management involved in that episode today.

I remember beating Ballymun Kickhams 27-10 to 0-0 at U10 but we can't have this at county level.
