Best county/club teams at home

(Oldest Posts First)

Which club or county teams have the best home results, either wins/games ratio or unbeaten records. Which grounds are notoriously difficult to get a result in down through the years.

From Kerrys point of view POC has always been difficult to come away from with a result even though we have beaten them a few times recently. Dublin have a fairly impressive run going at the moment..not many games lost in croker since 2010. In the club scene im sure the likes of Crossmaglen have very impressive home stats.

Anyone know the longest unbeaten run at home by a club or county team?

In terms of the best few counties at the moment how much would home advantage be worth..for example if Mayo and Kerry were to meet with there best lineouts available in Killarney or Castlebar would it be 2,3,4 points of value before a ball is thrown in.

We rarely lose at home. In terms of runs if you go back to the start of our current success we went from June 1995 until October 1997 and didn't lose a single competitive game. We lost around 5 games in total up to October 2000

I take it your talking about Cross and not the county RD?

Did you genuinely think it was Armagh? Lol

to be fair the time frame you mentioned could have been believable given the quality of Armagh back then. It was just the 'we rarely lose at home' bit that had me wondering, especially after Donegal last year.

Would be hard to figure out the combined League and Championship runs, but Kerry haven't been beaten in a home Championship game since 1996. Dublin hurlers hadn't lost when playing at Parnell Park between 2011 and the recent Galway match.

Think the last team to beat us at home in the championship was Galway in 2008.

Open to correction on this but I don't think we've been beaten in Ballybofey in league/championship since 2010.

Fermanagh went 12 games unbeaten at home in all competitions until the Cavan game this year. Fortress Brewster! If croker is the dubs home does that not make them have the longest unbeaten record? Donegal game in 2014 last time they were beaten there???

I remember having a debate with my fellow county poster,hill16man,that playing at home was/is an advantage to all teams.Hill16 was not having any of it,saying it is the same size pitch etc.Interesting the few posters already highlight ing the excellent home records their various counties/clubs have enjoyed.

The Pats in Louth were unbeaten at home in league football from late March 2011 until last Wednesday April 14th 2016. Five years is a long time. Championship matches in Louth are all played at a neutral venue.

Greengrass that is some record. The Pats are some club. How do you rate their chances this year?

instead of looking at a timeframe or how long an unbeaten run a team has had it makes more sense to say how many games a team have gone unbeaten. otherwise it's meaningless.

It's an eleven game league. By my reckoning in that 5 year period including 4 home semi finals they went 31 games unbeaten. Early days yet Ollie. Get everybody fit first. If they can get out of the group which won't be easy then they will be hard enough to stop. I think this years championship is the most open for a long time.

Greengrass yes I agree. This years Louth championship is wide open. The Pats will be looking to win a 3 in a row. The last club to do this was ironically their big rivals Cooley.

So they keep reminding The Pats Ollie. It would be nice to quieten them.

Greengrass deep down they are really nervous and worried that the Pats are catching up with them in Senior titles. Are you all set for Saturday?
