Players with Snr Provincial medals in both codes

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Reading of Conal Keaney's recent retirement got me googling for 'Players with Snr Provincial medals in both codes'. I was unable to find anything but I imagine it is a small list.

More specifically, has anyone got a list of 'Players with Senior Intercounty Provincial medals in both codes'? Thanks.

Whatever smart alec updated this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_player is patiently awaiting Clare to lift Sam. #ClareForSam.

No sign of provincial winners though. I understand that this list would cover the majority(but not all) of what I am looking for.

Teddy McCarthy from Cork obviously enough.

Liam Currams (spelling?) from Offaly has both too.

Kevin Armstrong did it for Antrim - won 2 Ulster Football medals and 8 Ulster Hurling. In 1946 he did the double winning both and only that the Ulster Hurling was suspended from 1950 to 58 he would more than likely have accomplished another double in 1951 when he got his second Ulster Football medal.

Lar and Des Foley have provincial titles in both codes as far as I no

Alan Kerins in bound to be another although winning the hurling provincial title out West probably wasn't that difficult for Galway

Many Dub posters may not know this..but Des and Lar Foley were good dual players.
Dublin lost in the Hurling final to Tipp in 1961 with players such as Lar and Des; Jimmy Gray; Des Ferguson: Achill Boothman.
They won the football against Galway in 1963 (1-9 to 10pts)...with Brian McDonald punching in the winning goal....good players like Paddy Holden, Bill Casey; Leo Hickey, Lar and Des...Mickey Whelan and JOHN Timmons on that team.
My memory is as good as ever...

Des Foley represented both codes in railway cup in 1962 on the same day and I think Leinster won both games

If they don't they should...successful in private life as well..I think Des became a TD ...and Lar was a farmer in North Dublin.
On another topic...the most successful Dub was Kevin Moran...super center back for Dublin and Man Utd.
Doubt if any other county can match that

Peter Corr. Won a Leinster medal with Louth in 1943. Played with Everton having transferred from Dundalk and was on the Ireland team that beat England 2-0 at Goodison in 1949 becoming the first team from outside The UK to beat England at home in a full soccer international .
