Kildare also provided two great players to Cork i.e Larry Tomkins and Shay Fahy, when Cork won the All-Ireland in 1989 and 1990 , much better players than Kildare ever took on board from other counties. It did not lessen Corks achievement one iota and rightly so. If a player is living and working in another county, it should be no big deal in changing allegiance, if the player so desires and if that county accepts him and the player makes the switch in accordance with the rules of the association. This obsession by some that a player has to be born and reared in a county in order to play for that county is ludicrous.

Eanna O Connor has been living in Kildare and playing for Moorfield for a number of years so I don't see any problem with it, it's nothing like Seance Johnston situation

it's very much like saying James Kavanaghs was 'imported' to play with Galway from Kildare. The only difference is O Connor has played a number of years with a club in Kildare. Kavanagh went straight into the Galway team. Neither are wrong in my opinion as neither were brought into counties specifically to play county football both are living and working in the area and playing for local clubs so county managers would be stupid not to consider them.

Ah feck it. Im not as big on this type of thing as I used to be.
If youre good enough to play intercounty football/hurling, and for one reason or another youre not getting onto your own county team then move. It happens all the time at club level.
Id hate to be a top class hurler from somewhere like Mayo or Meath etc.. knowing that youll never get to play at the top level.
And all the while were holding onto these traditions, other more important (in my opinion) traditions of the GAA like sportsmanship, manliness, honesty and integrity are being chipped away at.
