So for the day that's in it, here is something fun to start thinking about!
How will Gaelic games be in 30 yrs time.
2045 ? Will Kilkenny still be winning all around them?
Will Mayo still be looking for an All Ireland?

It would be great if the following happened:

Mayo win the All-Ireland Football at least once
Limerick become the first team to complete 5 in a row (hurling or football)
Kilkenny win the Leinster football final sparking off scenes like when Leitrim won Connaught in 1994 or Clare in Munster 1992

.............

I suspect Professor Brolly Brown, Marty O Rourke McFly and Pat Biff Spillane will still be holding court on RTE.

People will be giving out about the current state of football and pining over the glory years of the good old blanket defence when football was played the right way.

Meath will still have Mick O'Dowd as manager and he'll still be 'making progress' with a perpetually young panel but exiting the championship every July.

Dublin still won't have played a championship game out of Croker since Longford 2006 and we'll all still be complaining about it.

Mayo will have won an All-Ireland, but in doing so will piss off the same priest at another funeral in Foxford and reactivate the curse, D'OH!!!

The Gaa will still be debating and 'considering' the GPA's championship restructuring proposal, while continuing with the current system.

Kerry will have anywhere between 55 - 60 All Ireland won in the football.

The Kerry hurlers will have won the Munster Championship having beaten Cork, in extra time, in a replay in Thurles.

Inter-county hurling in Kerry will then be disbanded as we will have nothing further to prove to any of ye whores!!

Paddy Keenan takes over Louth and in his first season guides them to their first Leinster title in 70 years.

It's going to prob happen by that stage

But every model that I've seen for population growth over that time indicates that Dublin's population is set to grow by quite an amount

Mostly made up from inward migration to the capital

Dublin's population could be in excess of 2 million at that stage

Rural Ireland is in a spot of bother as is rural living right across Europe

Capitalism is pushing for Urban living

Urban areas will all see an increased population, while rural areas will see continued population loss

The chance of 2 OR 3 Dublin teams could be a distinct reality by 2045

But I'd also expect to see county amalgamations and unfortunately the loss of many GAA cubs around the country

Limerick, Waterford & Galway to win hurling All-Irelands in the next 30 years (hopefully the next 5!), Tipp to win a Munster football championship & Mayo to win an all ireland

Mayo will have a Sam or two by then......I hope. If the Chicago Cubs win the World Series this year anything is possible!
I wonder how many of us still be arguing here ;) ?

I don't think jimbodub is too far off, Dublin will either have to be split up or they will probably be winning all around them in both codes. I can't see counties amalgamating as surely they'll be able to find 15 footballers but certainly we will see a huge amount of rural clubs either amalgamating or disappearing completely. Also, the GAA will finally have changed away from the current system of league and championship. It probably wont be free to air games either by then.

County Boards bankrupt and unable to field county teams. Rural clubs have been wiped out. Dublin county c'ship replaces the All-Ireland. Kilkenny hurlers have joined the shinty c'ship in Scotland. Brolly has been knighted for his work in wiping out the GAA in Tyrone. Hoganstand has replaced Facebook
