Will Joe Canning ever win a senior All Ireland medal? One of the most gifted players of his generation. It would be travesty if dosent win one

Galway had a great chance to win an All-Ireland this year but for some reason didn't show up in the second half.

Joe went missing - all the talent in the world doesn't give you any right to succeed!

He goes missing in every game.flashes of brilliance is what he should be remembered for.not complete performances like Hogan and Reid give on a regular basis.

Of course you will have seen a lot more of him than myself , but from what Ive seen your comment is odd , the two players you mention are surrounded with more than a helping hand , in Joes defence too often hes expected to do it all himself , but as I said Im sure you've seen more of him than myself .
As to the question a senior all Ireland medal , a couple of years ago Id have said put your house on it , now not so sure and after recent events even less so .

I think people feel he'll have a significant contribution to make every time Galway take to the field based on his reputation!

However - I don't understand why he's widely recognized as one of the biggest stars in hurling. Maybe its something to do with the amount of air time he gets and the flashes of brilliance he produces.

As for Hogan and Reid, to dismiss them as quality players because of the lads around him is harsh. Their performance levels in big games is excellent.

In fairness Damo didnt dismiss them as quality players, dont know where you pulled that one from. He merely stated they have better players around them, which is true.

Canning has quality players around him too. He wasn't our best players this year's. Galway always had talented hurlers but unfortunately they can't leave their egos at the door so will never win an all ireland unless their attitude changes

Very harsh. No player dominates a game and wins every ball (at top level) in any game. His goal in the Leinster final was a stroke of genius. It wasn't a fluke. He is a superb player. I hope he marries one of the Cork camogie players, moves down here and have a massive family...

Joe has won enough with the 7 medals but Galway could use a Liam asap

Thankfully other posters spotted that in no way was I disrespectfull of Hogan or Reid , the thread is about Joe and in that context I answered .
Should you or anyone else start a thread about the two kilkenny lads and I will gladly contribute , along the lines of they are two of the greatest players Ive ever seen , when you mention greatest players of the last ten years a large amount will be from KK , how many will be from Galway , stands to reason had Joe been born in KK not only would he have AI medals , hed also have better players around him .

manager5 mentioned Hogan and Reid as a benchmark of excellence, your remark suggested to me that this was significantly helped by the fact that they play on a very good team
"the two players you mention are surrounded with more than a helping hand"

If I misunderstood - I apologise. I'm happy to see that you rate these two individuals so highly. I do too..

No problem Ban ,
Hogan and Reid pointless thread as what can you say ? No one could argue , all you do with those guys is sit and watch , my sons hurl and they are among the first players Id suggest to themm to watch for both skill and hunger.

If Joe Canning was born in Kilkenny he'd have a rake of all irelands already & would be remembered as one of the greats - he might have had a poor year this year by his own standards but he is one of the Galway greats imo - whether he will win a senior all ireland depends on the players around him, one man can only do so much
