Bernard Brogan

(Oldest Posts First)

Im interested to know where people have him in their standings after he has just collected his 3rd AI winners medal. Reaction to him on this forum has been hot and cold over the last few years, some say great, some say not.
As he enters the autumn of his Dublin days, how do you people rate him now, when compared to the Gooch/Canavan etc?

For me he is up there without question... but hey I have blue tinted glasses! Not many players can skin a man like him or turn and put the ball over the bar with no space and not even look at the posts..

One of the greats, no question. Speed, balance, turning ability, accuracy off both feet, free taking, consistently in the yearly list of top scorers. Best corner in the game at present I would say.

Different type of players, each brilliant in their own right.

Scored 6-20 from play this year

The fella is top class.. it's that simple

Left foot, right foot, intelligent, unselfish

Look at his assists count this year too...

By far and away the most potent forward in the country in 2015

Look at how he celebrates a score - the passion the man has is a pleasure to watch

Look at how he celebrates when the likes of EOG scores or Kev Mc scores.... the fella loves Dublin

The passion and pride just spills out of him

Without doubt the greatest Dublin forward of all time

My favourite non Kerry player in the game at the moment. Seems to score more half chances then any other player ive seen and his movement off the ball to create space is amazing.

Thats all the praise I can muster at the moment as our final loss is starting to sink in a bit later then expected.

For me, the best we have produced. As well as score-taking when a ball is sent up to his corner you can be pretty sure he's gonna win it, high/low/dirty ball, even if its 40/60 or 30/70. It's a great comfort in a stressful match :-)

Definitely up there. Soon to be 4 allstars. Player of the year in 2010 with a case to be made this year.

Consistently up there with the top scorers from play since 2009. Class act.

Excellent player, 6-21 from play is no mean feat, he doesn't get the credit he deserves I think. I would say if you asked alot of Dubs which Brogan brother alone was the best, opinions would be well split so I am not sure if you can definitively say he is the best of all time to come out of Dublin. Definitely deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the names mentioned but don't think he will make many teams of all time. I would count him in the same bracket as Stevie McDonnells, Trevor Giles, Padraic Joyce (also unlucky not to be in top tier), maybe just a tier below Canavan. I don't like saying that because I do like him as player
