It'll be a poor football DVD unless ......

(Oldest Posts First)

..... they have Westmeath v Meath as the full coverage game. Last year's official GAA highlights of the year DVD had our replay loss to Kerry as the main game. Not a bad game I suppose. The GAA would be squeamish about having Dublin v Mayo draw as the main game. But if a mistake I think. It was a cagey first half but had plenty of intensity, rakes of milling, second had had some good football and an exciting finish. Replay had little intensity, some great football but was over with 10 minutes to go.

Kerry v Cork first game was good but no result. Kerry v Tyrone was a decent game. I know I'm forgetting some other good games but there weren't many of them.

So why not have Westmeath's historic victory over their neighbours as the feature game? They ultimately won nothing in 2015 but that game was one of the best of the summer.

What about a Christmas DVD "The Dubs Greatest Strikes of 2015".... then they can bring one out about football.

Ulsterman,I like that idea about the Dubs greatest strikes, no end of good material there. Or perhaps there could be a segment entitled 'Cork's greatest strikes', hosted by Donal Og Cusack. It could be right up there with Star Wars in terms of great trilogies.

As the OP said, there are only two games worth featuring in full on this year's DVD, but if the GAA wanted to flesh it out, maybe we could have more coverage of the qualifiers - don't think they've made an appearance on these DVD's for over a decade now....

The problem is that Dublin have a massive advantage over every other team in Ireland and are dominating and will dominate in the future for years to come. There wasn't any doubt throughout the year that there would be any other winner. Sure weren't they odds on before the year began 4/6 I think? Football has regressed in a large way and the quality of matches has suffered. Do you also notice the apparent lack of interest throughout the country after the final? It just isn't exciting to see a team like Dublin win the all-Ireland anymore.

...whereas after Dublin's triumph in 2011 the entire country sang songs of rapture in unison. Only time Dublin were odds on for the title was before the final and it was closer to evens, although a shade ahead of Kerry.

Now now miler you haven't bought into plan, the Dubs are 15 Angel Gabriels who spread nothing but niceness and soft cuddly toyness throughout the land. Off to re-education camp deep in the jungle for you my Mayo friend.

Ulsterman, maybe Miler could stop off at fantasyland and pick you up on the way to re-education camp.

Sorry gavvy I haven't been captured by The Dublin Stepford Wives GAA and media cult yet. I can still think for myself unlike others in the Moonies group.

Id like to see a fly on the wall documentary where Ulsterman decides to support his own county in 2016 . Footage of UM apologising for a.se licking the other Ulster counties throughout 2014 and 2015. With him promising to learn more about his own counties culture and not just tagging along with other counties success.
