Paddy Andrews deserves an All Star

(Oldest Posts First)

He won't get it but 100% deserves it ahead of AOS.. Paddy has been brillant since he got his chances this summer.. He wins nearly every ball that goes in, creates huge pockets of space by dragging defenders everywhere, can get some beautiful scores and literally never loses the ball.. not to mention his link play.. the amount of scores he has been involved in by either link man or from creating space is frightening

AOS will get it as he is the darling of the GAA at the minute.. In reality he scored 3-4 basically unmarked against Sligo and won 2 or 3 balls against Donegal.. In 3 games in All Ireland series he scored 1-1 at full forward.... not All Star material.. how Brolly gave him POTY is madness.. don't get me wrong he could have been POTY if he got better ball but he didn't..

Yep, Brolly's choice was glaringly unimaginative. Andrews has stepped it right up this summer.

Perhaps i am as bias as the 2 Dublin supporters but how is Sean Quigley not being mentioned? Top scorer in the championship and I think the league as well.

Quigley has had a good year.. problem fir me is only 1-4 from play.. I think corrigan has more and should be talked about.. Quigley has a touch of class about him and if he was in a better side (no offence) he would put up huge scores

Agree with this and posted it 2 days ago on All Star page. Andrews scored 8 points from play in the last 3 games. He scored 7 points from play against Keith Higgins who is in the top 5 defenders in the last 15 years. He only scored 1 point in the final but won almost every ball that went in and won a crucial free which Dean Rock scored in the first half. People will say Quigley Murphy or O Se but All Stars are won on the big stage in finals and semi finals in front of 80k. Don't think they will give him one as he has often been under appreciated even in his own county. But he will make do with his 2 All Irelands 3 Leinster titles and 3 League medals in the last 3 years

I wouldn't be too quick to heap praise on the Dublin forward individually. Part of their brilliance is the team's collective movement and working the ball at high speed into positions where they cannot miss from. It is brilliant team football.

While Andrews score taking is exceptional, I think McMenamin is the one player who can etch out scores from individual brilliance. Strange to say this especially with him being a sub, but he can get a ball on the wrong side of a defender, get by him, score.

As for an all-Star, I am not a fan of them as they are largely undefined. Best player in that position? Best scorer? Team of the year? If they are the best 15 footballers in the land shouldn't one person be picking them like a manager would, which would imply logic needed to string a team together? From that point of view, were I picking them yes I would pick Aidan O'Shea as he would be of benefit to any side and if he was available for selection to Dublin or Kerry, would make their squad stronger.

Yep I would agree wit you to be honest. AOS had a very good year to be fair so wouldn't be over critical but I suppose he is somewhat of a marketable player which does help. I wouldn't begrudge AOS an All Star but your point is fair enough. AOS got one in 2013 ahead of his brother which was ridiculous at the time as well. The All Stars should be 1-15 in their positions, until it is the farce will continue.

Agree that Paddy Andrews should get an All-Star, he has been brilliant at the business end of the season. He is not media darling so wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't get one. He is the complete package, can win his won ball and kicks scores with his left and right foot. Just one of those players who is underrated, not sure why. I am a fan of AOS but he probably hasn't done enough to deserve one.

100% deserves one but he won't .

The All - Stars is sometimes a lottery .

Like Donaghy got one last year which really put into question the credibility of the All - Stars .

I really hope Andrews gets one and he'd almost be the first player I would have in the inside line this year .

I'm a fan of Andrews, think he deserves an award. But could you have made your point without cribbing about AOS?

For the record they're probably both in my All Star team.

He is a player who is definately deserving of an All Star.
I remember saying during the fermanagh game that I didnt understand how he was getting playing for Dublin. Well I got my answer in the last 3 games.
He was brilliant and by far Dublins most dangerous forward in all them games. He takes unreal marking as he is always making runs. In the dirty day that was the All Ireland final I don't think he dropped a ball all day.

AOS will get one for doing a demolition job against Sligo but I wouldnt give him one personally. He is a poor mans Michael Murphy :D
On that topic murphy shouldnt get an All Star. He could maybe get score of the year (if they is such an award)
