2015 Football Allstars - To date

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Everything changes depending on what happens Sunday and there will be a 2/3 player swing for whichever is the winning team but my team of the season to date has been:
1. Brendan Kealy
2. Shane Enright
3. Rory O Carroll
4. Philip McMahon
5. Peter Harte
6. Lee Keegan
7. Jack McCaffrey
8. Anthony Maher
9. David Moran
10. Mattie Donnelly
11. Aidan O Shea
12. James O Donaghue
13. Bernard Brogan
14. Paddy Andrews
15. Conor McManus

Alot harder to do than I thought, notable mentions to Cillian O Connor, Sean Quigley, Peter Harte, Marc O Se, James McCarthy, Colm Cavanagh, Killian Young, Sean Cavanagh.

Half Forward Line is the hardest line to fill and I am aware that I have included a few men who didnt play much of their football there.

Don't agree with Enright. Off the top of my head, Chris Barrett has had a better year than him, and Im sure there are a few more. McCarron probably also...

Also, Mattie Donnelly has been playing in midfield all year.

Aidan O Shea scored 1.1 in three games. that is not good enough CoC and DoC deserve a mention ahead of him

Being realistic I think DOC will get YPOTY and will not get an allstar. I also think Tyrone will get 1 allstar and I thought Mattie Donnelly most deserving. He has played as midfield all year but we all know this has never stopped all start selectors before. He had a poor semi but so had Moran, both cancelling each other out like Connolly and Keegan.

O Shea was mentioned for POTY before Dubs games. I also think he got MOTM in 2 of the 5 games he played unless I'm wrong. I think he will get an allstar.

Enright is as sticky a marker as there is.

I like the pun, it wasn't an exhaustive mention list, Murphy should have got a mention but lets focus on the team, THE TEAM, and not pick holes in the follow up statement, I am open to other suggestions

Elvis, you have Harte in your team but say you are giving him an honourable mention?

No way AOS gets one and O'Donoghue shouldn't get one either.

Boomcha you can't possibly leave out the championships top scorer!

Kealy
McCarron
O'Carroll
P.McMahon
Keegan
C O Sullivan
Harte
Maher
Moran
T.MCCANN
D O'Connor
Connolly
Brogan
S.Quigley
Conor McManus

Think Quigley is in for a shout for his all-star, championship top scorer and dragged Fermanagh to a Quarter final.
T.McCann, Forget the hairgate scandal has been (in my opinion) one of the best players to pull on the jersey this year!

I thought a lot about Walsh. My arm could be twisted on Quigley again. And find_the_space, I agree on McCann also but he will loose out to a half forward line probably made up of Dubs and Kerry players (I know I picked DOC), had a great year and a very tidy game against Kerry.

Diarmuid O Connor geting an all star or even young player of the year?? He had two good games in Croker, actually he had two good halves in Croker, thats all he did this year, im sure he will blossom into a quality player. Keegan may get one, depends on what happens the next day, but i think he should be Mayos only representative..

Aidan O Shea won't get an all star in the two biggest games of Mayo's season he went missing.

Kilkenny and Walsh at 11 and 12 for me all day long. Kilkenny has been brilliant this year and I don't think he gets the recognition he deserves, same with Andrews. They picked up the slack from the under-performing Flynn all year and Connolly in the semis. Aidan will be lucky to get one but I don't think that's completely his fault. His service and support in the semis were shocking and JOD has been nothing special either (unless you listen to Martin Carney). Ronan McNamee is in with a shout also.

I think Mayo's most likely all stars will be Keegan (shoe-in), DOC, O'Shea and Higgins. Higgins probably won't get one since Andrews roasted him but he was brilliant in every other game, including the drawn game. DOC has really impressed me this year and has got better with every game, mightn't be enough though. That said, I can see it being Keegan and AOS (deserved or not) that get all-stars.

Being honest I haven't been overly impressed with Fenton although he had a good replay. I think he is a bit behind Moran and Maher, and even Mattie Donnelly. Cain O Sullivan is someone I probably should have included if Im honest.

There are a couple of variables that could mean there will be more all stars outside the 2 finalists. The big one is that mayo were involved in another replayed semi final this year, and that means their players are likely to be rewarded for the games they put on.
