Season Ticket sales - how many?

(Oldest Posts First)

On last Sundays independent they printed the number of season tickets sold by the provincial rugby teams. They were impressive numbers and must be a great source of revenue -

Leinster - 11,904
Munster - 10,357
Ulster - 10,300
Connacht - no figures available

The gloss has gone off the provinces a bit over the last few years and the bandwagon has switched to the national team. If you look at the crowds in Thomond Park for Munster's televised Pro12 games (when not playing another Irish side) I'd estimate there is typically between 4 and 7k there. When they call out the attendance it is usually in the region of 14 / 15k because they include the season ticket holders whether they show up or not.

Based on how empty the ground is if 20% of those season ticket holders regularly show up it's a lot. Not surprising given that the top players are more often than not missing and the opposition is often poor.

Yet when they roll out the season ticket tickets the following year 10k+ people are willing to shell out for them again. They have clearly got serious brand loyalty going on here. It this something the GAA could tap in to more. I know the Dubs are always trying to target teh Christmas market for the Spring Series ticket but the GAA have not been too facilitating with confirming fixtures in time

Anyone got figures for GAA season ticket sales?

Mayo have 3500 season tickets. Mayo and Dublin are the only 2 counties to sell their full allocation but i think Dublin seem to have far more than 3500. I am not sure if Mayos 3500 includes Cairde Maigheo tickets or if those come out of clubs allocation. There seems to be awful secrecy in relation to the numbers.
