Ladies Semi-FInal

(Oldest Posts First)

Is it just me or is the decision to not allow the ladies semi between Dublin-Armagh as a curtain raiser in Croker on Sat as complete stupidity? Maybe the GAA pres can intervene in a positive way for once and get this changed.

With tickets now sold for the replay, where would fans of both teams get tickets for a Croker curtain raiser?

well they would have got possibly 200 at it in parnell anyway
so hardly going to be a big ticket difference considering
dublin are one of the teams anyway involved
they could give tipp and kildare tickets yesterday
surely could have given tickets to armagh for saturday
as would only be about 50 tickets anyway

As a member of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association I think it's hilarious that people are giving out that the GAA won't allow Dublins semi final be played as a curtain raiser to the mens game.
If the mens game wasn't taking place on Saturday evening, there would've been a round of senior/intermediate club fixtures and even though the ladies game is due to take place in Parnell Park, it still we wouldn't attract more than a few hundred. In Dublin (and many other counties) hurling plays second fiddle to football and if when there's been a double header involving the hurlers/footballers it hasn't made a huge difference to early attendance so why do people think it would be different for ladies football (the poor relation)

Long.Dub.Glic: Not entirely sure what your point is. I've been at replays at Croker in the past where they've added on previously fixed Junior/minor games as curtain raisers. It'd be an opportunity for the Ladies to play at HQ in front of a decent attendance and increase the exposure to people who wouldn't go a ladies game.
As for Slayer's link to attendances, they're for finals, you'd get a fraction of that at a semi. Seeing as Dublin are one of the teams, I don't see the point of splitting the fixtures between 2 locations, especially as Parnell Park is up the road in Donneycarney. I'm sure there are a sizeable number of people who'd like to got to both games.

Well in that case move it to Croker!

Dubs didn't come in to support the hurlers at the start of year (Dub v Gal, Dub v Long). they'd hardly come in for the ladies football

From a safety point of view - it makes sense to havea curtain raiser, - people aren't all coming at the one time.... as regards the attendence if anywhere else - probably 1,000 would be at the ladies semi- final.....

Give 2,000 tickets to Dublin Ladies Board and 750--1,000 to Armagh....

Also it raises the profile of ladies football..... the intermediate semi - play it elsewhere....

To me .. it doesn't make sense, especially as Dublin are in it.....
