I thought it was a terrible decision by the officials to allow that first goal. I cannot understand why the goal was allowed. My guess is the officials for their part were showing sympathy to the underdog but surely that is very unfair on Dublin. Fair is fair? Thoughts? Jokeshop of a decision. You win some you lose some but that could cost a team the game. Just not good enough. Do these people even know the rules??? Jackeen (Dublin) - Posts: 4097 - 02/08/2015 18:49:19 1762637 Link 0 |
Disgraceful didn't matter n the greater scheme of things today and managers pundits etc can have a good old laugh about it ... but it wasnt so funny few years back when louth louth lost leinster final in similar circumstances referees umpires and lines men having major impacts on games it's unfair on teams who are putting on huge efforts .... seriously needs to be looked at by the gaa rossy15 (Roscommon) - Posts: 617 - 02/08/2015 18:56:23 1762649 Link 0 |

No ifs or buts as Fermanagh's fiest goal was warranted and the official should have had no hesitation in raising the green flag. If Fermanagh had have scored by the number of wides they had, then Dublin would have been knocked out of the championship. So a lesson there for the Dubs whom the media seemed to praise more than they deserve!! Next up Mayo to whack Donegal! And Monaghan to whack Tyrone! At this stage of the Championship all referees involved should be from neutral counties, i.e. those not involved in the running for serious honours. JamesH (Mayo) - Posts: 465 - 02/08/2015 19:07:18 1762662 Link 0 |
Goal of the season. Pure mischievousness on the part of big Quigley - the grin on his face afterwards was priceless. It was an inept piece of officiating, of course, but as my wife put it, he'll never have to buy a pint for himself again in Fermanagh. IMO Cluxton charged out into Fermanagh player expecting to get a free and just bounced back off him over the line. Perfectly legit goal and certainly livened up the stadium. dingle2 (Kerry) - Posts: 278 - 02/08/2015 19:12:54 1762665 Link 0 |
Lets clear one thing up, this was not a decision for the umpires. The umpire was wrong not to put up the green flag to indicate the ball had crossed the line. It is entirely the ref to decide if it is a foul or not, which in this case it clearly was under rule 5.9 (a) benjyyy (Donegal) - Posts: 1422 - 02/08/2015 19:15:19 1762668 Link 0 |
Worst decision i've seen since the Sheridan goal versus Louth. Absolutely appalling piece of officiating. Its been said before from numerous quarters but there is a real crises in terms of the standard of refereeing in Gaelic Games. Perhaps a then acceptable leftover from a bye-gone era but the mentality of 'keeping a weaker team in it with frees' is an absolute slap in the face to the effort players put in. seany16 (Dublin) - Posts: 1658 - 02/08/2015 19:15:33 1762669 Link 0 |
Rubbish decision, it is incredible ineptitude at this level, players expect better than that. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4896 - 02/08/2015 19:17:14 1762671 Link 0 |

I'd say Jo Sheridan has had many a pint since his try in 2010 also around Meath. In this case fortunately it mean't nothing. I thought Cluxtons reaction was poor when he was approached afterwards by the Fermanagh goalscorer. He didnt like it one bit. It did liven up the game but Dublin were very professional overall with their display. Plenty of bite there when needed. ninjasmyth (Louth) - Posts: 716 - 02/08/2015 19:33:45 1762689 Link 0 |
The ref and umpires sole job is to apply the rules according to the rule book muck. They get paid for this. The players can make as many mistakes etc as they like. That's sport. There is no excusing decisions like this when you are so close to the play Jackeen (Dublin) - Posts: 4097 - 02/08/2015 19:34:03 1762690 Link 0 |

I think this goal is legitimate. Quigley tried to knock the ball out of Cluxton's hands. Cluxton stepped backwards. mikeyjoe (USA) - Posts: 415 - 02/08/2015 20:16:15 1762731 Link 0 |
