Tipp v Galway

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

This is going to be some game I can not wait for this one , two sides with outstanding forwards going all out attack to get to the final, what's posters thoughts ? I was convinced up to Sunday it would be a Tipp v Cats final but after watching Galway Sunday I'm not so sure now, but I can't wait to see both sets of forwards do there thing.

Fancy Galway to shade it.Saw them in Thurles last Sunday for the third time this year and was struck by how they have kept improving.Joe had a bad day against Cork and they still won pulling up.It could be the game of the year.

I love when these two teams clash, there is no love lost and both usually fancy their chances which makes for a great game. I was lucky enough to be at the quarter final in 2010 and it was savage stuff with Tipp snatching victory right at the death, as it happened that was their toughest match on route to Liam that year as well as being the game of the year. Galway will need to prepare for a much tougher afternoon in the forward zone as Tipp won't be standing off any solo runs trough the middle. This one could go either way but I'll say Tipp to edge it with Bubbles and Seamie having just too much fire power to contain.

Could be a shoot out as I think all forwards on both teams are capable of banging in a few goals and getting a few points. Galway's forward line does look more lethal but Tipp's defence is probably just a tad stronger.
I know this Tipp panel are hell bent on winning the AI after last year. On their day Tipp can be awesome or awful.
Holding these Galway forwards will probably depend on Paudi Maher but I believe in players like Ronan Maher , Michael Breen , Kieran Bergin in that half half back line they are capable of holding their own.
As posters mentioned in 2010 it was a pretty close game and Tipp got some unbelievable breaks in that game. I remember Tipp being down by a few points and John O'Brien coming off the bench to cut the gap and Gearoid Ryan scored a peach of point to level the game before Lar stepped up and got an even peachier point to win it.In the first half Galway were ahead in injury time and Callinan was alone inside in the 21 and buried a goal with no one within 20 yards of him. Our 3rd goal was a loose breaking ball which Gearoid Ryan dispatched with ease. However on the flip side Galway had a penalty with the Tipp defense all over the place failing to clear the ball. It was some game. I had my head in my hands from about the 60th - 67th minute as I believed Galway had finally killed us off.
I feel Galway have revenge on the mind for that loss as it was a game they should have won.

The only team Galway have met this year who are in the same league as Tipp are Kilkenny and they beat Galway handy enough. I think Tipp will have too much firepower and have alot of big-game experience in Croker Park. Galway have dangermen but they beat a 14-man Cork team and are not a distant relation to the Cork teams of the past. They conceded the same type of goals as they did in AI 2013 final and I cant see a proper team doing that.

Bubbles & Callinan are the only two high scoring forwards in Tipp forward line.I felt Noel McGrath was a massive loss to Tipp.Tipp needed another top forward. Not to lose one of their star men.On his day,Noel could score 4/5 points from play.If Bubbles/Callinan can be held to under 3 points from play,i dont think O Meara,B Maher,Bonnar & J Forde, have enough scoring power to make up for this.Galway have serious aerial prowess in the half forward line.Callinan is due a big game, and if supplied with good ball, could leave Hannbery exposed and go for the jugular. No goals for Tipp in last game. This wont be repeated.Canning/Flynn/Glynn/Cooney are all adept at winning primary possession in the air,and may have the edge on Bergin/Breen/R Maher in this area.Bergin was easily beaten by R Power in the air for Kilkennys crucial goal last year and R Maher hasnt overly impressed me too date.C Barrett will probably take up C Mannion in a dual that will be worth the admission fee alone.Early days, but Tipp will need P Maher 100% fit.I fancy the tribesmen at the moment, but it really is on the day.Two excellent teams with an equal chance of reaching the Holy Grail.

Thers's no stopping Tipp's march to their date with destiny in September! Sure us Galway ladeens are honoured to be allowed hurl on the same pitch as them.

Barnowl, leave that not so cute whoorism,to those Kerry spoofers. One county of wafflers is enough for any country.Your normally a straight shooter.Tipps realtmo is suffering the same Kerry infection of late.I really dont see what it achieves.Like they say on Cathphrase - Say what you see!

Cue it's Galways to loose at this stage, hopefully us Tipp lads won't suffer the same faith as the semi in 2012.

Seriously Barnowl, that was a poor effort; probably a result of your lack of practice at BS!

No calling this game; it will all be down to the day and which Galway team shows up. Should be a great match.

Gaillimh Abu!

I forgot C Donnellan in Galways half forward line.Another physical, big threat that will give Tipps half back line lots to think about.

realtmo, did you ever hear of aesops fable "the boy who cried wolf"?If one keeps telling tall stories and deliberately misleading others well, when that person eventually decides to tell the truth, unfortunately that person cannot be taken seriously.Fantasy and reality become blurred, and the result is - a KERRY man!A mistrusted person of dubious character.

Ah now lads please! I am quite serious .Sure Tipp is the home of hurling after all! They have the greatest hurlers and the most passionate supporters in Ireland we all know that.
They have Tom Semple's field, Dan Breen, Rattler Byrne , Liberty Square , Slievenamon and The Galty Mountain Boy on their side.
We'll be doing well to be within 10 points of them but sure if it helps sharpen them up for another tilt at Kilkenny we'll be happy to help our neighbours from across the Shannon.

Might as well stir it. We don't like Tipp and we'd prefer Kilkenny winning 20 All Ireland's in a row if it meant stopping Tipp at least once. That said they have some mighty hurlers and as much as it galls me to say it, right now they're better than us. Our master plan is to knock them off their perch next year while they're AI champs.

Bloody eck,the Jackie Healy Rea disease is spreading.Thank God we in the capital have a BS immunity to this not so cute whoor venom.A truly unfunny disease that leaves its victims being a victim of their own gibberish, and mistrusted forever more.Once it attacks the mind lads, theres no coming back.

"thank God we in the capital have a BS immunity"

Lord above lad, have you forgotten that the epicenter for BS is located in Dublin 2? So with that one statement you have proven your complete and utter mastery of BS. I salute you.
