Westmeath - Blanket

(Oldest Posts First)

Will Westmeath play a blanket in order to prepare themselves for a battle against a bigger side or was the Leinster final a once off? Also what should they do? Would not be surprised if Fermanagh turn them over either way with Egan and Heslin now out!

I don't see why they should play the blanket, Fermanagh are not a big team and if you keep Quigley quiet in the full forward line then they will struggle for scores. They have a decent team look what they did against Meath in the leister semi final in the second half. It will be a good game of football from 2/3 worst teams that are left in this years championship. Still fancy the Ulster men to win though.

WestMeath shouldnt worry about playing the blanket defense because they wont be playing another game this year! FERMANAGH to win!

No they won't, they don't need to. They have to be tighter than in first half against meath in defence and they need to be more positive than against Dublin. Fermanagh don't pose the same threat as Dublin in attack and Breffini park will be a lot different than Croke Park. A total different game. Fermanagh a good team but westmeath don't need to change from the style of play that seen off Louth, Wexford & Meath in the Championship so far.

While playing the blanket, they only had one man worth aiming the ball at and he won't be there, they have to attack!
