Is this a lucky Kerry team?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I mean...

Mayo had them beat all ends up

Made the champs look like chumps

Then bottled it... Mayo being Mayo

Bloody ludicrous decision thanks to CP stupidly not being available during THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

Means Kerry gets the advantage of playing Mayo in Limerick

Kerry get some outrageous calls in their favour

Mayo lose

Donegal play their best game ever and beat the best team in the country

Kerry avoid Dublin... I'd say Kerry celebrated that victory as if it was their own

Donegal peak too early, play nowhere near their level

Give Kerry the handiest AI goal of all time

Fast forward to Championship 2015

Kerry's luck still holds strong

Ludicrous penalty decision that kept them in the game

Will Kerry's luck continue or will it eventually catch up with them?

Luck only lasts so long and they are currently on some run of it...

They say you make your own luck and that's certainly the case the way these Kerry lads go down in the penalty area!

Certainly making the most of it.

Kerry are always lucky sure all the clover in the county has four leaves and every rainbow ends in Kerry - plus the ref's usually make up for any playing deficiencies.

Lucky? A bit yes?

I'd more want to talk about how much they're becoming Tyrone with every passing match. The play acting, the swarming, the mouthing off. They'll take it, I'm sure, if they win a few more Sam's out of it. But this Kerry team ain't a Kerry team as Kerry team's should be.

squareball - saying that implies this is something new to Kerry. It ain't.

You have to have luck to win. In this case the answer is yes.

Luck is not the only reason they have won. If that was the intended meaning of the question, then the answer is no.

You'll win nothing without luck along the way. Kerry had it last year. We had it in 2011 and 2013. But as they say, you make your own luck. That Kerry team have bottle that's for sure though.

They say you make your own luck but did the referee not help with their luck yesterday? They never would have got a draw without the penalty
Also what about stupid things on the field of play?? What was O Connor at when he charged full into a Kerry player? They had possession and lost it over his actions
To me the biggest mistake of all was C ONeills 45 , why did he not send it wide if he was not going to score , ended up setting Kerry upfor the equaliser
I don't think Cork have the killer instinct and as regards Kerry it will take more than luck to win Sam this year

He was unlucky with the 45 that he didn't catch it right. The kick that led to it I thought was a strange one.
Leftfooter kicking from the sideline into the wind was a very difficult kick. Should have gone short to retain posession

Sounds a bit like Donegal to me.

Agree re: O'Neill's 45. He should have tried to kick it out of the ground.

Cork are totally naieve. Kerry would've started a scuffle, kicked the ball into St. Finian's, anything!

You've got to take your chance first time round to beat Kerry. Kerry will win replay.

I wouldn't class a biased ref as being lucky . Donaghy not getting black was laughable . I thought the Mayo match last year was the epitome of bad reffiing but yesterday matched it . Still don't think Cork will take them.

waynoI - I agree they are like Kilkenny in that respect. Every team needs luck, some get it and others don't. Some kick to level up the game though, ice cool.

Some of ye still don't understand what merits a black card. Go away and read up on it, it's getting embarrassing at this stage.

Agree Kerry are a lucky team.

Spot on re the 45 - The only place in the ground where you wouldn't want to kick it was Donaghy's paws
If it was wide they were bossing midfield so a reasonable change they would win the kick out - or at worst they could have organized their shape and could have taken another black card fouling whoever won the kick out. All of which would have taken the clock well past 37 mins

Another point id make is the application of stoppage time in stoppage time- What the ref did was reasonable - there was at least a minute of stoppage after the 70th minute so playing an extra 30 seconds was fair - but this needs to be applied consistently - AI final 2011 being a case in point where Kerry didn't get a late chance despite the delay in Cluxtons last point

I wouldnt class yesterday as being lucky. It smacked of a draw before the game. I would also credit cork as opposed to saying that kerry were lucky. Bth teams dug deep at the end, and there was nothing lucky about their equalizing point. Stylish more like. Remember too that this was a game without a back door, so I would say there is less luck involved in these games. I also think that yest they were perhaps lucky to get a peno, but they will miss shouts before the year is out. Sometimes u get them, others u dont. Thats life rather than luck.
