Violence in Wicklow again

(Oldest Posts First)

Honest question , is it just me or is Wicklow the worst county in Ireland for violence between players and or at referees ?
Maybe for some reason its highlighted more ?
I can say I can think of a dozen counties if they had the recent track record that Wicklow has it would be national news and major source of debate .
Does any good news ever come out of Wicklow games wise ?
What on earth do they have that constitutes a county board down there ?
Things boil over in games can and have happened in every county in the country but it seems / appears more so in Wicklow .
Some of the more high profile clubs allways seem to be in the news for wrong reasons .

Not trying to start a fight but if this was a single Ulster county it would be directed at all Ulster HA HA ;)

Must be something to do with altitude.......

Who had DoireCityFC in the sweeps to be the first person to turn this into an everybody against Ulster thing?

I thought I was on a winner when I got Ulsterman!!

To be fair to Wicklow I think they have acquired a negative reputation due to some unsavoury incidents a few years back, i.e. Bootgate.
The national media love to hear a story from Wicklaa as it always draws in the reader "these lunatics again". In my experience of Wicklow football at all levels I would say they are as well behaved as anyone. One would have to wonder about their structures though. They have a big population but possess below average teams in both codes. The mountain range cutting it in two has always made life difficult, internally its almost like separate counties.

I clearly stated that it may be an altitude issue! less air getting to the head = quick tempers

Funny I was going to start a similar thread asking the Wicklow posters if it was as bad as the press would make out?
It seems that any violence involving Wicklow clubs ends up on Hoganstand. That's down to either;
a) The shear volume of incidents
b) The seriousness of the incidents
c) The press have highlighted Wicklow as a known problem area with regards GAA violence.

I know there was a referee hit in Derry and not one word about it anywhere bar the local forums.
