God forbid the blasphemy of some. Kerry haven't committed a foul in 30 years, they don't get cards and only play defensively cos they are forced into it by others!! All hail the Kingdom, the saviours of gaelic football.

That is true.

That isn't what he said though. He said they were the most cynical, which isn't true.

Sigh, I really wish Joe would just stay quiet sometimes. One minute Tyrone are the greatest team ever, then Tyrone are cynical, next Kerry will never win a proper final against an Ulster side, then Donegal have ruined football, next Donegal and Jimmy boy have saved football, then Kerry are the greatest county ever because they played an Ulster side at its own game, now Kerry are the most cynical team ever...

Anyway this should prove to be another excuse for the we hate Kerry brigade on here to have a go. If we aren't winning handy All Irelands we are bullying the poor craters who are trying their best to play honourable football in the right spirit against us etc yawn, etc.

"Anyone who wins possession in the middle third is going to be held up and stopped. That will happen. They are at the head of the black card leaderboard"

Just to underline brolly's bias, donegal were doing the exact same thing throughout 2012, and he was saying they were 'putting on a defensive masterclass'. Why aren't Kerry putting on a similar masterclass? Why isn't it a masterclass any more? If he was truly interested in defensive mastercalsses then he would be lauding Kerry, as they have nailed the balance between defence and attack.

It is just another passive aggressive attack on Kerry and an attempt to wind up Spillane. I for one am sick of brolly using gaelic football as his play toy. If he doesn't respect the players, the game and the fans enough to call it straight, he shouldnt be there.

I agree joe changes his mind on certain issues but who doesnt??????? Opinions can and do change depending on the most recent game. Far from hating kerry up here we respect and love watching the kingdom play. Your first trip to celtic park this year was met with the biggest cheer we had this season. Joe does point out you had the most black cards (not sure if this is true) he did give quite a bit of praise aswell if you read on......

"The team have a great basic skill level; they can play basketball against the blanket defence. They can spread the ball around and have players that can kick the ball over the bar.Two years ago against Dublin in that classic All-Ireland semi-final, they pulled Dublin all over the pitch. It was an immense performance against a better team."

Brolly changes his views to suit his own agenda and what he is saying about Kerry is nothing new. Kerry are very good footballers but to deny that they are not cynical, dirty or streetwise when they have to be is just pathetic, insulting nonsense of the highest order. I am not condemning them for this, all winning sides must have that to succeed but the fawning piety and in denial mode that surrounds Kerry and Dublin is just nauseating at times. We seen Kerry last year cynically pull, drag and haul Mayo all over the pitch to get the win in the semi final and 'out Donegal' Donegal to beat them but their tactics were completely ignored as the media and pundits who looked the other way. Paddy Heaney of The Irish News wrote a great article about this several weeks ago and gave the stats about fouls and cards in respect of Kerry and Dublin; Heaney pointed out in black and white the total hypocrisy going on by GAA 'pundits' and the Southern media.

I would like to know how he doesnt respect the players game and fans? Giving most of his youth and adult live to promoting the sport in Derry and Belfast plus the endless charity events he does all over the country in clubs not respectful enough for ye?

This was due to be his last event in mayo he was to take part in but Croker showed lack of respect and cancelled.....

Kerry didn't win their All Ireland's by being nice, as a famous Offaly footballer said. They get away with it, because they are successful, and can do the nasty stuff when required. Most teams do.

People are entitled to change there opinions Doire, but as other posters have pointed out Joe does so to make headlines not because he has had some new conversion on the road to Damascus. As someone above pointed out, how is it Donegal were being praised by him for their brilliant defence and yet Kerry are being dammed for going into ONE major game in a defensive set-up in order to negate the oppositions strength, to hammer the hammer as Ronan O'Gara would put it.

Yes Joe is pretty complementary about Kerry football a lot of the time, put throwing out the word cynical to describe aspects of their play is just an attempt to generate headlines. How is it he does not use the term when describing Dublin or Mayo, two teams which are every bit as street smart on the pitch as the Kingdom can be.
