If the sparrow says it wont be used as an excuse why mention it? Did mount Leinster get a session up there prior to last years final? Has any team ever trained on the pitch before a game in croker to "get a feel for it"??

Where is the story here? Bad sign to be looking for excuses before the game even happens.
Why were they even offered a puck around and how long did they want anyway 2-3 hours? If they cant hurl on that surface then they have bigger problems to sort out.

Why would you bother driving up to Dublin if you were only going to get 20 minutes on the pitch though ?

I know when we played in the final in 2005 we went up to Dublin 10 days before on the Saturday morning and played Dublin U 21's in a challenge and then went to croker for a half hour session. Maybe an idea they could have pursued too if they fancied it. I know it was hugely beneficial to us as we had a lot of guys who never played there before getting accustomed to the place

Sparrow should never have brought this up. Whatever his motivation was, it just comes across as a sign of weakness - it sounds like he is making excuses in advance in case things go wrong on the day. They should just focus on getting their game right and if they are good enough, they will win. Their lack of Croke Park experience will only be a factor if they believe that it is.

Playing on front of 82 00 fans in croker would take a bit of getting used to, but therell be no where near that on Tuesday. Okay, its still an impressive stadium but in fairness the players wont be intimidated by the atmosphere on paddys day (at least they shouldnt be).
