Bit of Fun

Right Lad & Ladies.
Just something lighthearted.
Which premier league or other soccer club would you compare your county's hurling or football team too?
For instance Limerick hurling = Newcastle United, glory days far in the past and support who get very carried away with themselves :)

Tyrone Football - Brazil

We are the Brazil of Gaelic football, we were once good but now even Monaghan can beat us

Kerry/Man Utd - self explanatory

Dublin/Man City - colours/recent success/finances

Mayo/Liverpool - plenty of shapes/no end product (60 odd years since last title :)

Donegal/Wimbledon (crazy gang) couple of decent seasons with unattractive game plan :)

Kildare/Leeds - colours/descent into oblivion

Cork/Chelsea - always worth mentioning/don't write them off

Tyrone/Arsenal - once mighty/now hanging on

Meath/Notts Forrest - memories of past glories/struggling to survive in lower levels

all in jest lads, have fun :)

Cork = Newcastle United...the board don't care what happens on the pitch or what supporters think...

Louth = Sunderland.

Both teams red and white, both in the north east and both living in the shadow of their neighbours.

I think Kerry are more like Barcelona.
A team full of natural footballers that play the game the way it's supposed to be played.

Mayo - Atletico Madrid. The gritty underdog who are happiest when written off. In trouble when people actually back them though.

Roscommon - Hull City. The wannabe gritty underdog who think they are happiest when written off.

Galway - Portsmouth. Done great for a while but went belly up and keep trying to pin that on the manager.

Kerry - Barcelona. Always got a few coming through. Talk a good game but nasty as anyone when it comes down to it. Refs tend to have their backs.

Donegal - Chelsea. Tough, uncompromising, organised and generally get the job done. Although some of their leading lights are pushing on. Don't necessarily need 'the special one', although generally better when he is there.

Tyrone - Uruguay. They have the trophies, best not to think about how they went about getting them though.

Meath - Stoke City. One time uncompromising, now turning over a new leaf, and not really working. Deep down they wish they were Uruguay.

Dublin - Man City. All the resources in the world and ultimately they will win a few trophies. But that tendency to blow it is always there, and when they do it is all the sweeter!

Armagh - Millwall.

Cork - Newcastle - I was going to say Dortmund, but Newcastle is a good one!

Kilkenny - India. Lethal in the cricket, best not talk about the football though.

Cavan - Aston Villa. A one time football stronghold. But some questionable tactics leaves them short of scores, and ultimately, wins.

Derry - Blackburn Rovers. They won the title once you know

It pains me to say it but:

Mayo = Tottenham Hotspur

Win the secondary competitions once in a while but haven't won anything major in living memory!

Colm Cooper is undoubtably Lionel Messi but who would be the Ronaldo? Diarmuid Connolly maby? Sean Cavanagh on his day perhaps? Its an interesting one

Mayo surely be Newcastle given the amount of finals they have lost and their delusion that the last time they won anything was just a few weeks back :-)

Mayo - England. Flatter to deceive. A lot of people reckon they'd like to see them win one, but they'd be hard listened to for a long time afterwards if it actually happened. Have had a bit of trouble respecting borders in the past.

Antrim - India. Better at stick and ball sports. Big population but nobody knows why they're not much cop.

Galway - Nigeria. Huge potential and a tendency to have the odd crack at dominance on their own patch, but in-fighting stops them getting it together on the big stage.

Dublin - Germany. Traditional Superpower, big population, excellent coaching structures, bags of money.

Roscommon - Portugal. Had a very good team donkey's years ago, then did nothing for a long time. Things are looking promising right now but will probably end up winning bog all anyway.
