Oisin McGrath

(Oldest Posts First)

Its with great sadness that I write this following the tragic news of the death of 13 year old Belcoo footballer Oisin McGrath. I shed a tear last night as the news filtered through of his tragic passing, whilst at the same time I watched my own 13 year old lad sitting laughing at some fail compilation on his iPod. He too plays football, does gaming, hangs out with his mates, eats us out of house and home and the thought that we could one day send him off to school in the morning like Oisin never to return and never having that chance to say goodbye hit me very hard. We all know just how tough and uncompromising a place the school playground can be, trouble was always just around the corner whether you went looking for it or not, but this seems so brutal,so final, a split second of madness that has robbed this young man, and many others who's lives he has touched, of a future. I hope that Oisins family can find some comfort in the days to come from the genuine outpouring of grief and sympathy from across the whole community, these are sad times and my thoughts are with them.

RIP Oisin McGrath

Yew tree you like everyone else have no idea what happened.

As someone from the area can i just say that your comment is not necessary and is adding to an already difficult situation. I really would like to refer to you as a lot worse but i am pretty sure the admins would not let it through. I would ask you to withdraw your comment and apologise to everyone involved in this situation. The mother of Oisin has asked people to pray and think of the other family that is involved in this situation.

Having met Oisin on a number of occasions i must say he was a terrific cub. A very mannerly child who could hold a conversation with anyone from 5 -95. A child full of life who had an excellent sporting career ahead of him. Of that i was certain. This situation is an absolute tragedy and my hear goes out to Sharon, Nigel and the rest of the Mcgrath family. My heart also goes out to the other family involved in this.

The only positive to be taken from this horrible situation is that 5 families now don't have to go through the pain the McGraths are going through. I'm not sure if it has been reported in the news yet but a 10 year old girl received his heart. It is one of the few things that is helping to make this situation less painful. Even in death Oisin is making a difference in peoples lives.

Rest in peace Oisin McGrath. In 13 short years you achieved more than numerous individuals manage with their whole lives and even in death you are having a positive influence on this world. Ar dheis go raibh a anam.

gotmilk, a very sad time and emotions run high, maybe a little harsh on yew_tree there, I'm sure he didn't intend to upset anyone.

gotmilk, I'm not sure what yew_tree said to upset you but it looks to me like he was just offering his condolences but I understand that emotions are high at the minute.
