Seeing as Christmas is hurtling towards us now, judging by telly adds anyway, was just wondering about people's thoughts about any good books on the GAA that people might be thinking of picking up for themselves/others for Christmas. Hope you gave out to her for spoiling the surprise and ruining your Christmas morning Hermit. Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 12/11/2014 15:10:01 1671762 Link 0 |
Can anyone tell is Galvins worth the read? Any recommendations will be appreciated ObsessedWH (Westmeath) - Posts: 21 - 13/11/2014 09:06:52 1671899 Link 0 |
Surprisingly, Conor Mortimer's book is supposed to be decent. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 13/11/2014 10:22:04 1671914 Link 0 |

Ya I'd go for Conor Mortimers book as well, I heard him on off the ball last and I never knew he suffered from sever nerves during and before games. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 13/11/2014 14:21:55 1671990 Link 0 |

Tried to post something criticising Martin Brehenney's ghost-written works on Cody and Micko, seems Hoganstand have an issue for some reason, anyone have any opinions on those books, dull if you ask me which was criminal given the legends of the game he was writing about in my own opinion... Galvins is the first GAA book I've started. It's not bad. Hudhastings (Leitrim) - Posts: 87 - 13/11/2014 15:06:59 1672007 Link 0 |

Looking forward to reading Galvin's book anyway, at least he wrote it himself (and I know how hard writing a book can be so massive respect to him on that front). His an interesting character, one of my favourite Kerry players off all time and seems to have an opinion and something to say. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 13/11/2014 18:44:01 1672099 Link 0 |

Loughane's was good enough, picked up last year very cheap at book sale. Think someone should defiantly do a book on the 98 hurling championship and all the stuff that went on! TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 14/11/2014 13:29:39 1672234 Link 0 |
Hurling - The Revolution Years(think that was the name)was good read. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 14/11/2014 13:50:33 1672247 Link 0 |
A book issued in September about the Furlong family, Martin, Tom, and their late brothers, Mickey, and John,of Tullamore, Offaly, and New York fame is worth considering. Proceeds go to The Dochas Charity, a good cause. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1741 - 14/11/2014 14:08:55 1672263 Link 0 |
