Donegal madness - Should Roslea make the semi ??

(Oldest Posts First)

The ruling by the Ulster Council yesterday throws St Eunan's participation in today's game into doubt. The fact Naomh connail are appealing to the Ulster Council means the Donegal Champioship is not officially over. It a mess. If Naomh connail are granted a replay against Glenswilly, then St. Eunans are then not the Donegal Champions, and by extension should have no right playing Roslea today through absolutely no fault of their own.

There are so many what if scenarios that come into mind. It also sheds a major light on the speed of the GAA's appeals procedures, as if the Galway Fiasco didn't already. What if Naomh Connail are granted a replay. What if Naomh Connail win the replay and have to play St.Eunans for a title they have already won. What if Glenswilly win the replay if granted, and make a final against St.Eunans who already beat them in one. I am confused, anyone care to shed a bit of light on this subject?

Also, I though at the time the reason that the Donegal and Ulster Councils rejected Naomh Connails appeal was they just wanted to get rid of the championships, even though there was a clear precedent set earlier this year in the game involving PobailScoil Corca Dhuibhne. So to that end, they have some serious questions to answer in not following rules and procedures.

As far as I am aware the Naomh Conaill club are not looking for any replay to be played, so St Eunans' position as county champions and participation in the Ulster club is not up for debate.

They merely wanted to highlight the unfair way in which they were treated by the Donegal and Ulster appeal committees. Now that Croke Park have ruled in their favour I don't know what, if any, compensation they will receive.

Thanks Lockjaw, makes sense as I was wondering how it did not get more column and blog inches. They were unfairly treated, as a decision to grant them a re-fixture should have been made quickly, especially as the precedent was set earlier in the year. It is probably far too late unfortunately for a re-fixture. It just goes to show how messed up things get when Boards and committee's don't follow the rules, as we know well in Galway.

This is more like the usual black card madness we have seen all year....we have seen inconsistent implementation of this farce of a rule all year....culminating in the madness of the enright decision in limerick and now this....time to get rid of this nonsense of a rule once and for all
