Glenbeigh Glencar suspension - very very harsh!

This is very disappointing. Ok, a rule was broken. Transgressions of rules deserve penalties and possibly ignorance is not an excuse. My point is, is the punishment here fitting for the crime committed? Also, it seems that Macgilcuddy is taking the entire punishment when the team that played him are as guilty of displaying ignorance. If this chap was suspended for his club's county semi-final (against Brosna) - a harsh punishment in itself - it would probably ensure that he would check the next time. The message would be received. 48 weeks is far far too much for this very minor crime

very very very harsh. Absolutely absurd.

Way back in the early 00's I went to England to make a few bob during the summer to put myself through college.
I never transferred from my own club to a club in London but I played away over there. had great craic and great way to make friends.
After the summer I went back to college but went back to London for a final one weekend along with a few other lads that was over for the sumemr, the game ended in a draw but unfortunately a guy from a neighbouring parish back home was playing for the other team and reported me to his management like the ball bag he is.
We were due to fly back again for the replay but luckily there was some issue with the flights so we never got to go back.
Found out later that if I had played in the replay I would have been reported to the GAA and likely would have been banned for a year.

So I got off luckily but this Pa McGillicuddy banned for a year for playing a silly 7 a side tournament is beyond a joke. Back to neanderthal gaa
