Revision of underage groupings

(Oldest Posts First)

Should the GAA change the age groups for its underage competitions in the light of a few things such as: The problem in Kildare with senior v minor / increased pressure in the education system / senior inter-county getting a younger age profile for players over time. Here's my suggestion:

U-11. Go Games format, ie, non-competitive.

U-13. First competitive grouping. Kids are playing competitively in primary school and in other sports, might be a good compromise from the GAA 's point of view.

U-15. Might consider changing Feile to this age group (that's he here it started after all(.

U-17. The new 'minor'. U-17s would not be allowed to play at adult level. Also takes many L Cert students out of this bracket, thus easing the pressure on their schedules (probably an irrelevant change in terms of A-level students). Play the U-17 finals as curtain raisers to senior finals in counties perhaps, as there is no crossover.

U-20. Could be developed more than the existing u-21 to provide more games to 'post-minors'. It's fair to say that the best u-20s are making senior sides as it is.

Adult.

Any thoughts??
