He has called time on his inter county football career. Probably one of the best footballers over the last decade that didn't get the recognition he deserved because of where he was from. Interestingly he had 6 teams looking for his services years ago. Wicklow footballers and hurlers, Rathnew and Glenealy, Bray Wanderers and a local soccer club butters1990 (Kildare) - Posts: 262 - 03/10/2014 11:59:47 1659677 Link 0 |
Ye he was an excellent footballer, unfortunately he broke his ankle against us in 2012 and it took him a long time to recover so we haven't seen much of him in a while, he'll be a big loss to Wicklow football. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 03/10/2014 12:13:07 1659686 Link 0 |

Wicklow do be there or thereabouts in the Christy Ring every year so probably sees it as an opportunity to win something butters1990 (Kildare) - Posts: 262 - 03/10/2014 12:22:07 1659692 Link 0 |

Except if your Kerry who seem to specialise these days in throwing away Christy Ring finals these days! How they conspired to let Kildare beat them this year I'll never know!! Would have been great to have done the Ring/Maguire double!! TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 03/10/2014 13:43:21 1659736 Link 0 |
Delighted that he is doing the hurling. We have more potential in this area. sponger (Wicklow) - Posts: 2897 - 03/10/2014 13:49:15 1659740 Link 0 |
Proposal? Form regional teams from 'lesser counties'. Let them play out their own championship. Winner and runner up to play to play in back door of main event. This would stop facile victories for strong counties, give isolated strong clubs a real focus and allow neutrals to get behind the underdog. If this was accepted, John Galvin might well grace Croke Park in August or September. For hurling fans in Kerry, it would have been great to see what Paul Galvin might have done as a dual star. plike (Kerry) - Posts: 569 - 03/10/2014 14:36:25 1659782 Link 0 |
As a man who had a pleasure of watching him against our county in the League on almost an annual basis, Leighton Glynn was consistently a thorn over a long period. He was a player of great balance and was a step above what he was surrounded by. Like many others, born in the wrong county to get the accolades his talent deserved. bananapublican (Leitrim) - Posts: 878 - 03/10/2014 15:06:37 1659796 Link 0 |
