New Compromise Rules

(Oldest Posts First)

It was interesting to note the similarities between that last three big football games played at Croke Park -the Donegal/Dublin Semi Final, The American football Game and the All Ireland Football final - perhaps we have a new compromise rules game as the Aussie experiment is clearly not working and the 'evolution' of Gaelic football is now more closely aligned with America Football than Aussie Football

It's not a coincidence that Jim Mc Guniness is a fan of American football coaches when you hear the terminology, quotes and study the tactics - Offence, Defense, - the obsession with stats and actual lack of any FOOTball have resulted into the current Gaelic Football game being reduced to a series of 'plays' - the offensive/defensive kickout, holding the formation/line, marking your territory rather than your man - all result in bursts of play lasting about 30sec - 1 min before a scoreable free/wide. It was interesting to watch the teams practically ignore their direct opponent and run back into position when losing the ball

Perhaps a new compromise where the Americans don't wear protective armour and play with a round ball might be more entraining and could take the place of the semi finals in Croke park every year - would anyone notice the difference !!!

Unusual post from a Donegal man. Do I detect a level of unhappiness with Donegals style of play?

They do form a line of scrimmage at the edge of the D.
