"And our clubs made the decision to postpone the club championship, not Jim McGuinness."

That's the truth of the matter, so nothing to be seen here

"This was two weeks out from the Ulster final, or a week out, I'm not sure now . . . and half of our players had been knocked out of the club championship, heads were down, we had the injuries then that had to be dealt with.

He acknowledges that injuries happen at training too.

"And then on top of that we had fisticuffs in the Michael's/ Glenswilly (game), I think it might have been. And county players going toe-to-toe with each other. And that's the same boys then that are going in to battle with each other two weeks later.

That is life. Players go toe-to-toe with each other at some training sessions. Training is preparation.

"So you'd all these negative dynamics . . . you're managing a situation, not a team. The clubs have given us the opportunity to manage the team this year and prepare as best we can."

Fair play to the clubs for doing that. They have their league games I suppose to keep the club players ticking over. And Jimmy McGuinness is so lucky that there are such lovely, genteel club delegates in Donegal that are willing to put off the club championship so he can 'manage his situation' ...and what a job he is doing..

I was reading one of the many fine articles on the Hoganstand. I chose to draw reference to an article or two. If some people do not agree, they've obviously nothing to see here and they'll move along! :)

Anyone spot JMcG inside the ropes at the Ryder Cup yesterday?

Garcia was lining up his shot & there not 5 yards behind him, lining him up no doubt, was the bould Jim.

Now I know why Donegal were, ahem, below par against Kerry.

The Blessed Jim was spending too much time mulling over fourball & foursomes pairings for the Ryder Cup.
