Just ring Paddy Power for next years Championship odds - that will be a fair reflection on where counties are with respect to rankings. Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1415 - 18/08/2014 10:41:47 1638227 Link 0 |
Only ranking that matters will be decided in September between Tipp and Cats. All the rest is nonsense. HS rankings had Wexford three places ahead of Dublin! hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 18/08/2014 11:05:56 1638243 Link 0 |

NHL div1 teams are hurling's top6. You don't see Bournemouth or Huddersfield fans ranking themselves in the premiership top20. Pope_Benedict (Galway) - Posts: 3422 - 18/08/2014 14:29:54 1638368 Link 0 |
Lads the only ranking that matters is who is the last county standing come September. Hoover78 (Limerick) - Posts: 865 - 18/08/2014 14:41:42 1638372 Link 0 |
That's true Pope but you don't see soccer teams basing their standing on pre season friendlies!!!! mike03 (Limerick) - Posts: 2000 - 18/08/2014 15:09:33 1638389 Link 0 |
Indeed Mike, or soccer teams winning promotion, only to be told that there's no promotion this year lads! I was a bit surprised at Oll's 'rankings' there, as Galway are one of only three sides I believe to have retained NHL div1 status 2012-2015 in the revised 6 team div structure, and I don't recall an NHL div1 meeting with Limerick at all in that timeframe. I find it hard to remember those pre season friendlies Pope so you could be right mike03 (Limerick) - Posts: 2000 - 18/08/2014 15:35:48 1638413 Link 0 |
Mike, KKs record in the last 13 'pre-season friendly NHL' competitions is won 8, lost 2 finals, didn't reach 3 finals. That record is closely comparable to their McCarthy Cup record in the same period. Tipp have also been in 4 of the last 7 NHL finals, so the top sides are clearly carving up this 'pre-season friendly' stuff between them. Perhaps it's time that Limerick moved in on some of this pre-season action, rather than adopting Oll's delusional notion about team ranking, based on a few strong MHC showings in the past two seasons, Wexford's annihilation, and one solid but losing all-Ireland semi-final outing.
