Donegal v Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Well everyone, after much discussion and debate about whether people were getting ahead of themselves in predicting this tie, here we are.
Dublin v Donegal (Part 2)
Personally, I can't wait to see the Dublin juggernaut keep on rolling.

It will be like 2011 all over again, but this time Donegal have the forwards and guile to do a job on Dublin!
Donegal by 2 points in a low scoring affair!

Donegal outnumbered Dublin today, will they outnumber them again in the semi-final

Donegal were in a dogfight today; they showed they have the guile to pull it out of the fire when not playing well.
Dublin were in a pigeon shoot (and have yet to be tested in the championship)!
Donegal by 2 points; the dream is still alive! ;)

as a tyrone fan its about time people give this dublin team the respect they deserve. They are playing at a different level to everyone else in ireland. As for donegal they have no chance, keep it within 8 points if they are lucky.Donegal are hard to watch, its great to see gaelic football being played the way it should be.

If we play lîke we did yesterday then we wilj be destroyed. Donegal need to play at 120% to win this one. Dublin clear favourites but we live in hope!

While it would obviously ignite more interest in the final if Donegal were to win. I think it is a impossible task that faces them. Dublin are unbearable. The blanket won't work against dubs . Hard to know what will. Dublin haven't been tested this year and that is no reflection of laois Wexford Meath or Monaghan all in their own right decent outfits. Now oK Donegal may be a step up again but their average score is 2 22 per match and they squandered a a sackful of goals too. They in different league to all others and I feel only county who will come close to them will be Mayo . But they won't be beat. Maybe now it is dawning on ulster fans what us in Leinster have been saying. They are unbeatable.

Have to say the consistent diving and play acting from Donegal players is getting embarrassing at this stage, Donegal nowhere near the '12 side it should be cagey for awhile but Royaldunne is right Dublin will win by 10 plus in the end.

As they say no team is unbeatable, but by God I sincerely hope that if Dublin are to loose it will not be to the style of football we witnessed yesterday.

Afraid Donegal won't get within 10 points of Dublin. The Dubs are a different animal altogether.

As welj as Donegal playing at 120% we will need a strong ref. The frees awarded in the first 20 minutes yesterday to Dublin were a joke. MDMA should also have recived a black card for a deliberate trip on Clerkin. All of these need to go your way on day!

Donegal are nowhere near as good as they were in 2012 and Dublin are on a different level at the moment.

Dublin have too many high quality players, too much pace, their forward line have unbelievable cohesion and they probably have the strongest bench in the history of football.

I'd be surprised if Donegal get within 10 points of them.

Actually it is not what you have been saying. I thought you were tipping meath to win the all ireland any time soon.

It is also a thing that we are very aware of in donegal, that is how talented dublin are. To say any team is unbeatable is a very negative way of setting up for a game. I can promise you jmg and the donegal team will try over the next 2 weeks to tweak the system. It will come down to how well our forwards play on the day to whether we can stay with dublin never mind beat them. Dublin are going to score a lot, and there is no point in thinking that a defensive system is going to save us. But you still have to go down to croke park with aspirations to get a result.

Donegal will undoubtedly try to suffocate Dublin and that may work for 20 odd minutes giving rise to a false sense of optimism among all Gaa fans of a close game but by say the 45min the result will be clear. The only hope Donegal have is if they can keep Dublin away from their goal in the first half and hit them for at least 3 themselves and even at that it may not be enough, an incredible thought but that's what you have to do to have a chance against this Dublin team.

We will know after the game wheather Donegal are back to 2012 form A lot of our players played poorly yesterday, indeed I suspected that or at least with Armagh in opposition it would not be pretty
Still we are coming into this game in a good way , played bad yesterday but still won, Dublin beats a team we could only beat by 3points everybody writing us off and not giving us a chance
I don't think you saw the proper blanket yesterday as it does not work as well against a team who morrow you Plus all our games so far ::against Ulster opposition. It will be good to play another team from another provience so all in all only one winner on 31/08/14. :::: DONEGAL.

Fair play RD and Tyroneturbo.

Do people really think Donegal will Score more than Dublin in the Semi..??
I personally can't see it.

I lost count yesterday the amount of times during the game that Donegal had 14 men in their own half.
Terrible to watch and puke football alive and well.

Yes, Donegal will negate us and limit our scoring but I still don't think they will be able to score more than us.

The 1st quarter v Monaghan will give us a wee taste of what to expect against Donegal and that is a good thing.
But Jim Gavin is a better tactician than Gilroy was, and he will be well able to counter act Donegal spoiling defensive tactics.

Only one result here.
Donegal will be at 100 pc to contain the dubs in the first half hour. They wil be able to keep BB quite because he will be double teamed by Lacey and Mcgee but this only gjves more room to the others. Dublin have enough firepower to keep the scoreboard tickiing and then even if Donegal contain them outside 45 they will concede inevitable frees for cluxton. So id see this at 8-4 or 8-5 at half time.
I think as we move towards the hour Dublin will get the inevitable goal which would leave Donegal 6-7 points back and forced to open up to chase the game which will further suit Dublin

Ill go for 2-15 to 0-11

Think Donegal can win the game, but McGuiness needs to do some serious work with Colm McFadden over the next few weeks. He's not at the races at all - Donegal need him and everyone else at 100% to do it.

Regardless of what Dublin or their supporters will say, they won't fancy facing Donegal - especially when the closest thing they've had to a challenge yet is probably in their own training sessions or 30 minutes v Laois. Donegal stand between Dublin and the AI - No disrespect to Kerry and Mayo, just my own personal opinion. Dublin seem to be on a different level - but I will be very surprised if they don't face 14 men behind a ball v Donegal, and to be honest - Dublin's fans went a bit quiet until the first goal last night, that kinda thing won't go unnoticed and will be something Donegal certainly have the tools to exploit.

Should be a hell of a game.
