So can other counties apply?

Why are the Offaly Footballers not getting some extra funding , we're poor at football these days aswell.

Well I suppose Offaly have always been a big hurling county and given that there are more counties taking football seriously then its easier to divide the hurling pie. Should they have given it to the Mayo hurlers and their 4 supporters instead?

What about extra funding for Kildare and Meath hurlers who play in the Christy Ring semi this weekend and who fly the flag for the second tier hurlers of Leinster. Both counties being traditional football ones, are doing excellent work at all levels in hurling with limited resources. If the GAA are serious in promoting hurling then the likes of Kildare and Meath need to be supported. At least they promote hurling within their respective counties unlike Kilkenny who completely ignore football.

small change
would barely pay for 20 training sessions for the county senior team.

counties need extra staff on the ground in do more coaching in schools, assist clubs at underage and county development squads
Dublin clubs have them, all counties need a hand.

Big populations in Meath, Louth & Kildare. They should be earmarked for hurling development.

Offaly and the qualifier counties have gotten extra funding. Kerry finished above 3 qualifier counties in the league, won 2A and took on Offaly in a play-off. Yet more discrimination. Are Kerry mistaken on looking to develop hurling?

I guess keeping hurling strong in the traditional strong hurling counties is foremost when it comes to funding and Offaly would appear to be falling out of the strong hurling bracket. I do agree that Meath, Kildare and Wicklow should be next on the target list. The population is big enough in these counties to have a strong hurling team as well as football.

More hurling in Kerry than in some of those counties.
