Just 10 days to go now until the Ulster Championship starts with a cracker in Healy Park,Omagh on May 18th. REDANDBLACK30 (Down) - Posts: 1618 - 08/05/2014 15:04:40 1585395 Link 0 |
Tyrone for me , however Id be a poor man betting on Ulster games , get it wrong as often as right , Down over last couple of years seemed shy of a couple of forwards , bit like most of the games up north little between sides and for a neutral thats what you want in championship . I'm predicting a tight encounter here, both teams really can't afford to lose at the preliminary stage otherwise its going to be one long drawn out summer. Home advantage to tell in the end and Tyrone to win by 3. brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 08/05/2014 16:10:27 1585426 Link 0 |
I think this could turn into a defensive dog fight, similar to our Ulster semi-final vs Donegal last year. Mickey Harte will be weary of his leaky defense and the damage players such as Rogers, Poland and O'Hare could cause them. So I'm expecting a low scoring affair. I don't think we have the forward power at the minute to outscore Tyrone who have a potent full-forward line. Therefore a defensive game might play into Down's hands. We need to bring our A game, if we do then it could be a cracker. If we produce anything less then Tyrone will run out winners with a good few to spare. Whoever does win, will have the advantage of having a championship game under their belt before taking on Monaghan. Lets hope its the boys in red n black! Rarely has there been such a low key build up in Down to an Ulster championship match. Down have been so utterly devoid of any constructive football this year that it's simply impossible to predict a Down win. We're an average division two side and will bow out of this contest with 15-20 minutes left of the match. artisan (Down) - Posts: 1794 - 08/05/2014 18:01:21 1585485 Link 0 |

Down's form away from home has been desperate in 2014 & for that reason I go for a Tyrone win. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 08/05/2014 18:50:25 1585514 Link 0 |
tyrone will win this one pulling up. I think that division 2 is a shadow of division 1, and therefore tyrone will be much better prepared. I also think that tyrone could give their next opponents an awful trimming as well. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3830 - 08/05/2014 19:28:26 1585529 Link 0 |

Tyrone v Down, two of the great s of Ulster football, hard to call, first day draw, for 2014 i have either of them beat by Monaghan,no disrespect, then Monaghan fall to Cavan, comming the other side Donegal, us,no disrespect to any Ulster teams, in saying all this the way Ulster is right now, any team on any given day can beat each other, Tyrone, or Down could suprise a lot, in Ulster, All Ireland. i feel Ulster is between, Monaghan, Tyrone,Cavan,Derry,Donegal, and Minor is between, Donegal,Tyrone,Cavan.............. all the best of luck to all Ulster teams, this summer. mchugh11 (Donegal) - Posts: 242 - 08/05/2014 20:27:23 1585553 Link 0 |
Could be a good high scoring game to start the championship as neither defence looked good during the league. Tyrone to win by 5 points. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 08/05/2014 20:38:19 1585559 Link 0 |

We all know Tyrone have been letting in a bag full all year. If we continue this pattern then Down will push us very closely and could surprise everyone with a hard fought win. We need to tighten up at the back big time, I've been happy with our attacking play this season throughout the league. But i hate this idea of being great up front and poor at the back, the notion that as long as we're scoring a plenty, what odds about letting in alot aswell. Its like the man with his feet in two buckets of water, one boiling hot and the other cold.....he's still in trouble regardless Game2Halves (Tyrone) - Posts: 265 - 08/05/2014 21:06:11 1585579 Link 0 |

Can't see the winner of Down v Tyrone losing to Monaghan. Monaghan are more walking wounded than Farney Army at the minute, and even with a full team they haven't the bottle to beat Tyrone. I've said it all year, its all heading for a Cavan Tyrone semi-final. Just the sort of game that Tyrone will hate! MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 493 - 09/05/2014 11:11:30 1585696 Link 0 |
Tyrone and Derry will win the whole thing. People talking monaghan up a bit to much here. They won division 2, we have seen before what comes after this. Tyrone should beat Down and hit the ground rnning against monaghan redhanddefender (Tyrone) - Posts: 913 - 09/05/2014 13:10:43 1585772 Link 0 |
