Goodbye to one of the greatest

(Oldest Posts First)

Tony Browne has decided to hang up his boots - the heart strings have been pulling all day thinking about another elite hurler never to win a senior all Ireland medal - I'm sure you will all agree a genuine great talented hurler who gave nothing shy of 100% down through the decades. Thanks Tony for the amazing years, you made a lot of people very happy with your performances and dedication and love for the county.

Tony Browne has retired and he should always keep his head held high. Very very few players have ever dedicated themselves to the cause of their county as strongly as Tony. He has not won the coveted senior all Ireland but, in the hearts and minds of all GAA people he has won more than that. He has won the respect of having won 10. Well done Tony, you have given everything for the cause. Your name will be synonymous with not giving up for many years to come. A true example for the young.
Thanks.

True legend of the game. Before Waterford became a force my heart would go out to him. He was all star class n was always on losing side. Always stood out. He may not have won an all Ireland but won respect of everyone who followed the game.

Absolute gent! He owes the game, his county & Waterford nothing. Unfortunately all great things must come to an end. I wish him all the best in his well deserved inter county retirement.

Someone you wish had been born in your own county , how every team could do with a warrior like that , tough as old boots and respected mighty combination to have .

Tony Brown now takes his place among the group of great players who were unlucky never to win an All Ireland medal. Over twenty years playing at the top level with some great Waterford teams, i always thought 2007 was the year they could have won but were cought in the semi final by Limerick who they had beaten in the Munster final.

I can only presume the shenanigans going on in the Waterford set up at moment is why he made the decision so late. Sad way for one of the greats to bow out. A real shame he never got an AI, sport is very cruel sometimes.

Fantastic ambassador for the GAA, hurling & for Waterford. His farewell statement oozes class & humility. LEGEND.

1991 - he made his debut in 1991!

A legend and a gentleman.

Sometimes it isn't how many you won or lost but how you played the game that's important.

A handful of Munster titles, All-Stars and a POTY award doesn't even begin to tell the story.
