Pillar on Connolly

(Oldest Posts First)

I see where Caffrey has made some comments regarding Connolly and the abuse he gets playing. He has certainly matured and is not as easily provoked as before. The black card does not deal in any way with the sort of stuff Pillar is talking about unfortunately as umpires follow the three brass monkeys rule.

Of course fellas like the Gooch have been getting the same stuff from the same teams for years. I think they describe it as "manliness" :-)

the black card should be given for this offence as
the rule states to verbaly abuse a player or offcial is deemed a black card

Connolly is playing big boy's football. No need to worry, he's well able to look after himself (or at least he should be).

Oh he is Rebel Cork. That is still no excuse for some of the abuse he comes up against. In fairness Cork players would not be among them.

Bad players never get this treatment , also if your known to have a short fuse well in a bit of a way you reap what you sow , he's going to get it for the rest of his career off some teams , he will just have to accept it , the off the ball stuff v Tyrone was a big test , but in the end he passed with flying colours with that point . Think Gooch gets treatment not because opposition think he will react but because they have no other way of stopping him , Connolly its two fold, put him off his game , and maybe he will react do something stupid .
