With all the rule changes that have been proposed I think the following would improve the game more than any. Use the sin bin for one purpose preventing a goal scoring opportunity through foul play. At the moment it is way too advantages to foul in football if there is a goal on with the chances of a goal form the resultant free in almost non existent. dahayeser (Cork) - Posts: 386 - 19/03/2013 13:09:51 1351950 Link 0 |

Think its the way forward , as I believe cute coaches will find way around black card system also . Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 19/03/2013 13:38:05 1351967 Link 0 |

How would you plan on identifying a concrete goal scoring oppourtunity? Such an ill defined criteria would put huge pressure on the referees, and would probably result in them erring on the side of caution and waving play on. If someone lumps a high ball into the box and the ball is caught in a tussle with multiple players, could that be a goalscoring chance for example? The rules would have to be very well defined piginmuck (Wexford) - Posts: 7 - 19/03/2013 13:44:31 1351974 Link 0 |

If the forward is one on one with the goalkeeper and is brought down by an opposing player then it should be a straight Red card just like soccer. westmeath16 (Westmeath) - Posts: 291 - 19/03/2013 13:57:40 1351981 Link 0 |

Definitely against the straight red card option if ref gets that wrong he really does screw a team up . Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 19/03/2013 14:03:26 1351988 Link 0 |

In the Cork Donegal league game, Michael Murphy was hauled to the ground just outside the 13m line when a goalscoring chance was on. The defender in question made absolutely no attempt to play the ball or tackle properly. He was happy to "take a yellow" for the team. The cynical fouling will not stop until players are severely punished for these types of fouls. I guarantee you, if red cards were issued in these circumstances consistently for a few weeks, the whole thing would be cleaned up once and for all. football first (None) - Posts: 1259 - 19/03/2013 15:35:28 1352073 Link 0 |

The Sin Bin is not among the proposals being put forward this year. I would agree that it should be introduced but its needs one GAA Club Member to put it forward as a "motion" at their Club AGM !! KELF (Kildare) - Posts: 775 - 19/03/2013 15:48:12 1352077 Link 0 |

The best way to combat cynical fouling and stopping the flow of the game is for the resultant free kick to be advance 30 yards. derryman (Derry) - Posts: 3246 - 19/03/2013 16:25:24 1352123 Link 0 |

I think the last man tackle could be introduced. that way players know what to expect in that situation. dstuction (Donegal) - Posts: 1209 - 19/03/2013 16:33:31 1352136 Link 0 |

I would agree with the posters above. Very hard to define what constitutes a last man tackle. It's obviously a lot clearer in soccer where there is an offside rule and a defensive line. If the full back and full forward jump together for a high ball 30 yards from goal and the referee decides the full back is climbing all over him should he be sin-binned if there is no defender closer to goal? doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 19/03/2013 16:41:15 1352148 Link 0 |

The sin bin is the only way forward to cut out cynical fouling. It works well in Rugby Union and Rugby League. kerry74 (Kerry) - Posts: 1354 - 19/03/2013 17:25:32 1352189 Link 0 |
