With the Financial time that every one finds themselves in getting club Sponsorship is naturally becoming difficult, at our recent AGM; I suggested that we approach two local businesses for a new set of jerseys. The split was 60/40 between the two. We designed a new set of Jerseys with Company one (who paid 60%) on the front and company two (who paid 40%) have their name on the back over the number and under the collar.

Just learned that this is against GAA Rules and Regulations, now I'm not going down the road of F1 cars or sponsored shirts like the darts players wear where every corner of the shirt is covered with an advert, but surely if two business are willing to chip in a few quid to the club and the jersey is tastily done I don't see the harm,

Any thoughts?

Thats silly, clubs need as much help as they can get in these times and if 2 companies are willing to sponsor jerseys then they should be let. The clubs get the jerseys they need and want and 2 companies instead of 1 get the marketing, promotion of being on a shirt and get it at a lower cost
Jerseys covered in sponsors can be quite good sometimes, have a look at treviso rugby jersey, though the fact trevisos jersey is made by benetton helps quite a bit

Totall agree.

(With the original post, not the GAA)

A second sponsor on the back and even a third on the togs or t-shirts/hoodies would be a great help.
With many clubs the sponsor is a local firm/bussiness man, but in these times they are struggling to put the same money forward each year, but they still really want to help the club out.
So dividing it out, without having to part ways with a sponsor who may have been with the club 20 years, is a great option and would help everyone involved.

I think its a disgrace that the GAA can stop clubs from doing this, when they themselves have THREE sponsors for each of their main championships.

I think it is. If I remember correctly I think it was a motion put forward by the Meath board.
The only problem is that the Head brass take their time deliberating over these things. This is an issue thats affecting clubs right now, and if a solution is put forward, then clubs could be helped out straight away, rather than put it on the shelf and let them struggle for another cuple of years.

By the way bannerman, the Ulster Rugby jersey is good example of what you're saying too - they're sponsored by Bank of Ireland on the front, Vodafone on the sleeves & the Belfast Telegraph on the lower back. Plus it usually has the Rabo/Heineken logo on the shorts too when they're playing those competitions and what harm is it doing? - None, as a matter of fact the strip is designed in such a way that it looks with all those logos in my opinion

At the end of the day it is a case of bringing up a motion to get it changed. I'd agree with changing the rule as long as it done as outlined on the original post.

That's what I am try to emphasise I do not want or encourage multi sponsorship as in 4 or 5 plastered all over the sleeves, back, front etc. I was only putting two sponsor's one front as normal and one similar size with just the name of the company on the back just below the collar.

I just think that in this day an age everyone would win if this was permitted.

Nice green and white rugby jersey. They mainly do womens and kids stuff but the jerseys they make are very very nice. Got mine nearly 8 years ago and still looks savage. Better than nearly all other jerseys ive had

Indeed. Munster & Leinster being the obvious examples with only Toyota & BOI sponsoring them respectively. It just goes to show that a jersey can be designed fashionably & effectively with multiple sponsors or singular ones. (Although I really wish they'd re-design our own GAA jersey!!)

You're building my curiosity about this 8 year old Treviso shirt you've got now, may I humbly ask if you can find an image of it online, can you post a link?
