This issue has been brought up in another thread, but there seems to be some ambiguity over it.I thought since we have people from all over the country on this forum then maybe we could have a vote on the matter. It is my own personal wish to see a united Ireland someday, and I hope it will be occur in a peaceful way.I know there are many other things that would have to be dealt with in tandem with such an event, but thats for another day. What I would like to uncover here is the gut feelings of the people of this country in relation to this issue. As I said already lets leave the finer details for another day.In other words vote with your heart only,a simple yes or no. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 07/08/2010 10:45:02 738913 Link 0 |

In principle I would like to see it happen, but it won't ever happen. Its way too expensive and a load of jobs will be lost in the public sector in the north. I don't think even a lot of catholics in the north want a united ireland. Also a load of people down south couldn't be bothered about the north. Both sides are as bad as each other. The unionists and loyalists would go mad in any event. Its just not worth the hassle. Bigboy (Galway) - Posts: 133 - 07/08/2010 11:20:02 738939 Link 0 |

Come on lads it wasn't meant to be a topic for discussion. It was a simple yes or no request to gauge the feelings of the people. Please leave it out now and let the others respond accordingly.Admin, please feel free to censor those not in keeping with the request of the thread. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 07/08/2010 11:21:30 738941 Link 0 |

We have seen huge strides in the past decade , people sitting against from each other and in dialoge. It all boils down to money and Ireland is marketed as an Island and not 2 septerate countries. I cant for the life of me understand why people up there think they are British , because the rest of the Kingdom consider them to be Irish. freetaker1 (Limerick) - Posts: 758 - 07/08/2010 11:30:37 738953 Link 0 |

Omar d, you identify a wind up and then fall for it with a rant. That's clever. Also, how exactly is 1.5 million people a 50% increase of our population? Population of the republic is 4.5 million. hurlinspuds (Cork) - Posts: 1494 - 07/08/2010 12:19:58 739011 Link 0 |
