Now i don't knock any county for believing in themselves and there is no doubt Meath have improved but in my opinion they are nowhere near the top 3. Last year they defeated an average Mayo team and to date this year bar the freak result against Dublin, they have been average enough. Kildare have a great chance of turning them over. I'm sure the Meath lads will disagree.

Meath's confidence should be bottled
Belief is 80% as the talent pool in each county is probably comparable, tactics 10% and a good kit man 10%

meath won be able to keep up with kildare the intensity level kildare will have will jus be to much for meath. .kildare have a better panel so if somethin not goin right they can bring on players jus as good as any player on the field. .i goin for a good tight match but kildare to pull away in last 15mins!!!

No Jonny1952, I think you want the Meath lads to disagree, dunno why you are so sure. I have always found that Mayo fans have no time for Meath on Hoganstand and this thread is just totally irrelevant I mean what do you know about Meath or their confidence as a Mayo man can I please ask? Kildare have every chance of beating Meath on Sunday and fair play to them if they do, if they beat us they will deserve it I am sure, and I will wish them the best of luck in the rest of the Championship, your looking for a reaction you are not gonna get. best of luck to both teams on Sunday.

I think you're right johnny, Kildare have used the qualifiers to great effect and are in great fighting form for Sundays match. Confidence will be high with Kildare running into this game on the back of their victories in the qualifiers while its unknown just how the Meath team will react in their first match since the fall out from their Leinster final 'victory'. I think the result against Dublin flattered them quite a bit while their second half performance against Louth spoke volumes. Kildares midfield should starve Meath of enough posession to get them over the line even if Johnny Doyle does have another stinker of a game.

yeah meath were average in their 10 point demolition of Offaly and their 10 point demolition of Laois and their 11 point demolition of Dublin. with a poor laois and louth display in-between those results the peoples view of meath has changed faster than a yo-yo.

I think tactics are more than 10%. how else are tyrone so unbeatable. its cos mickey harte knows how to set the team to win.
Its hard to know. They were great against dublin but had a terrible 2nd half against louth. I think kildare will win midfield so its up to that meath forward line to make the most of the opportunities they get. If meath perform its theirs to lose but they havent consistently performed in years. I personally would like a kildare win just because i like seeing dermot earley fielding but it'll be even.
I think meath will want to put the whole leinster final behind them with a good win

kildare and mayo fans are on here banging on about meath only beating average opposition, or when they win heavily its luck. who have kildare actually beaten, thats superior to what meath have done. NOTHING. just about everone puts kildare ahead of meath in their rankings on "the ranking thread" and have done so on similar threads for the last two years. i dont feel they've done anything to deserve this. we've been to two semi's and are leinster champions in the last 3 years. what have kildare actually done, apart from improve from the hammering we gave them in 07

Jonny I don't think any Meath man (not talking in jest) has put Meath on a par with the top three in country. At present any county would be foolish to say the are at the level of Tyrone, Kerry and Cork. Meath are quite incosistant at present much like Kildare so it could turn out to be a very interesting game. In my opinion anything could happen, a hammering either way is not out of the question but i think it will be a tight game with a decent scoreline. Confidence is partly bravado and its wat supporting your team during championship is all about, why would you follow your team if you were not dreaming of All-Ireland glory in fairness? Developing a siege mentality is a big factor with many successful teams and has been a staple of the Meath 90's teams so maybe these boys will bond together as a team more after the Louth debacle

Anyone Meath beats were crap anyway, if we play badly and win or draw we should have won beacuse the other team was crap, yawn, same old story. Lads on the Kildare forum are already arguing over who they would prefer playing in the semi final.
The media opinion of Kildare ranks up there with that of Donegal and Derry, always going to do something, never happens. Will it on Sunday? Maybe, who knows. However it would be great if posters on this forum could base predictions and rankings (which are a waste of time and just there to give Joe Brolly and Spillane a chance to argue like a pair of kids) on actual results and form.
On that basis I predict a 3 point win for Meath on Sunday.

My posts are always fair, a lot of the Mayo lads on here wreck my head. And my cousins are from Navan, and they have my head melted about the Royals!

Meath have been rightly hyped up somewhat due to their fine performances against Offaly, Dublin, the Laois replay and also that they've made it to 2 All-Ireland semi finalin the last 4 seasons. But in turn, they had quite a flakey display in the first game against Laois and their second half performance against Louth was very worrying for any Meath fan. Somewhere in between is the real strength of this Meath team.
They do have the forwards to hurt anyone, their defence has come on a ton since last year but their midfield doesn't look strong enough in my humble opinion. Regardless of Kildares rocky start against Monaghan, their midfield was consistent all day and had a lot of dirty ball winners.
I'd be expecting Kildare to win this one as long as they have their shooting boots on to compliment the amount of ball I expect them to win. But its a risky game betting against Meath.

Kildare are bottlers.. Leinster final last year against Dublin, they didn't have that edge or the boldness to overcome their counter-parts.. the same can be said about the Tyrone game too.. they just don't have that ruthlessness to see them through when the game is in the melting pot.. thats the difference between Kildare and Meath..

Why do Kerry win without a midfield and an ageing panel? They were awful in June, July 09 yet won the AI. There is a big difference between thinking you're going to win and knowing you're going to win. Self beleif is everything. There are 7 teams left with similar levels of talent. The difference is the self belief Kerry and Tyrone have.
