Question to all the dubs out there in HS land, how big a blow is it to your limited championship aspirations to lose your captain so early in the year?

Not a nice thing to say about a loyal servant of Dublin football and a veterna of the panel...but.....its not half the blow some in the media would tell you it is. Very over rated footballer in my opinion

The more of last years team thats disbanded the better if you ask me, with one or two exceptions

its a blow as one of our most experienced lads in the full back/half back line , but he isnt irreplaceable , i see Hugh Gill is starting tomorrow so hopefully , just hopefully he will do a job there for us

I always thought Griffin was a strange choice for captain, over-rated in my opinion.

He's nothing special but probably has a big psychological influence on the rest of the team especially all the inexperienced players.. as stated already not irreplacable..

Surprised to hear that Liam. I would rate him as one of dublin's best defenders, maybe their best. I think he's a huge loss

jes, i thought he'd be widely missed. played agin the crokes a few times and hes always on form. a great reader of the game and knows how to play football. very surprised to hear so many negatives. question - is the crokes fulforward back yet, cant think of his name? got injured agin meath last year?

Mark Davoren is the name you're thinking of.
Cruciate is often 9 months so prob back some time next month I would think. He was impressive against us last year.

Gutted to have heard this news...

We need lads like him... always sad to lose your captain through injury.

Barry Cahill will hopefully take it over.

dont think this is as big of a loss as people think
Griffin is over rated as seen when McNamee destroyed him in last yrs Leinster club championship while playing for Rhode against Crokes
Cahill to take over the reigns i think he has shown his worth to the Dubs team in last few yrs
But saying this i would not wish any injury especially to this degree on any player so i hope he makes a full recovery

Hope he gets better soon but overated in my view to be honest.

the guys a good defender but not a top one and it wont really dent our chances of winning sam imo while i wish him all the best and you never want this sort of injury to happen to a player i think in this modern age wing backs must be able to score and griff doesnt give us any scoring option i also think he isnt as tight a marker as phily mc or the ocarrols .Id like to see henry take over the number 5 jersey and the captaincy has to go to alan brogan but i doubt it will happen

Huge loss goes about his business quietly Dublins best tackler and one of our most consistent man markers over the last few years. Needed to retain some experience and calm heads in the backline to help bring the new faces along.
