Competitive NHL

(Oldest Posts First)

I have to say this is the most open league in years. Everyon seems capable of beating anyone else. Cats have now lost twice! Cork have played their first full league in a while and today was their first big test and now look to be serious contenders...
KK have now lost twice in the normal round of league games - when was the last time this happened??
Gal are as unpredictable as ever only getting a point today in the second half at home. They should look stronger after patrick's day.
Dublin are also unpredicatable with an up and down season so far. They'll be very disappointed with today. Like galway, on their day capable of beating most but can be very bad as well.
Tipp now seem to have got their act together overall after the dublin banana skin.
Great boost for Offaly today and well deserved. Hungrier team won. Underestimate this team at your peril.
Waterford look good bar the loss in gal but todays limerick match will tell us little.
It's a shame we don't have the strongest limerick team possible and instead this year, relegation is a foregone conclusion.

Wexford and clare both look really eager for promotion. The rest of the division also seem to have come on alot. Laois especially have impressed me. Looks like westmeath for the drop, fair play kildare.

Overall a tough league with much more games where anything can happen - an all round more even league. Very few games which are foregone conclusions. Have to say the cats losing again is a boost for everyone. I feel I might be eating my words before september is out...

oh i definately agree with you there , its more excitin to see results you dont expect , and decent games , if it becomes too predictable it becomes boring so this would only be a good thing :)

really enjoyed the Cork Kilkenny match today. What about that skillful pick-up before scoring the last point of the game!

Think there have only been two teams beaten at home so far? It's that kind of league alright. Teams - Waterford, ourselves, Tipp, Galway - one week brilliant/terrible, the next week the opposite! Other than Limerick it is going to be quite close I think altohugh reckon we lost whatever chance we had of being contenders today to an Offaly side was far sharper and hungry when it came down to it. Cork will probably reach the final but there's any one of 3/4 others who could join them. Unless Limerick get their stuff sorted and beat Dublin or Offaly they're gone but apart from that.

Fair point about us in Limerick. Every year there always seems to be one hurling county in upheavel & I never ever thought we would go down this road.

Lofty, 6 Helmets overall, apparently 5 of the lads had to change helmets at some stage. Cork were pulling on the Helmets a lot I've been told. But these things happen. Was a good game, pity we had a man sent off, people will start saying we're dirty now. 1st player in a long time I can remember walking.

People said ye were dirty long time ago! I dont agree by the way!
Great NHL. Dubs are an enigma wrapped in a mystery. Or maybe Offaly are getting it together again.
Division 2 is similarly tight. Kildare winning the other night in Westmeath would have been a small suprise, esp winning so well. Laois beating Antrim well have given themselves a shot at Div 2 final.
Who do people think the Div 1 finalists will be? Have to fancy Cork to be one of them, second spot is relatively open. Think Denis Walsh has his system in place and they look dangerous with the big target man inside, be it Aisake or Cussen. Cussen has impressed me with his hurling skill, more skilful hurler than footballer....

Seeing as Grace correctly got sent off for striking with the hurl, I assume the lads who struck him with a hurl will get retrospectively suspended using video evidence. I mean its only fair if they have been caught on camera breaking the laws of the game. Who would object to it?
