Just following on from a thread on the Derry page.
Ballinderry parish is divided by the Ballinderry river with part being in Tyrone and some in Derry. The Gaelic Club there now plays in the Derry league is this mirrored in other parts of the country?

Ballydesmond is divided by the Cork/Kerry border. They play in Cork championship as far as I know but the guys born on the Kerry side play for Kerry county teams.

Reeled in my eye.Anyone born after 1899 in Ballagh are Roscommon people. So if the Govt put Ballagh in Sligo in the morning,Then those born from 2moro on would be Sligonians.Google Ballaghderreen and tell me how many times Mayo comes up on the page.Once, referring to the the gaa club.End of story.
I have no particular hang-up about this at all.It does amuse me how much Mayo lads go on the defensive over this, already 2replies on a busy Saturday morning!
Go way now 51 I made a mockery of U on another thread and I can do the same here.

Well if Christy maintains its in Roscommon, a history lesson would be more apt.
I have argued this point all my life and still nobody can give me a response that would ever stop me believing i'm right.
Ballagh was originally Mayo

Changed by the local govt act in 1899.

Genuine ballagh people are Mayo.

Blowins from areas such as Frenchpark, sheepwalk, fairymount, ballinnameen etc will voice their pathetic attempts to point to the map to turn Gaa in ballagh to Roscommon, it will never happen they will never be given an inch by staunch gaels with a big say.

Ballagh is in Mayo in the hearts of people thats generations of their families are actually from the town, end of story.

I do however agree that players who have grown up Rossies should be given a choice, ie Andy Moran, but i don't think Andy would swap now, thats for sure.

The Lagan splits Belfast between Co. Antrim and Down with those in the East and part of South Belfast in Co. Down though the city sides play for Antrim. Newry is also split between Down and Armagh with most of it in Down though. I think the roundabout and bridge at Cloughouge are the dividing line but the Down and Armagh people will put me right there.

Slightly different to the rest but the town of Portarlington is divided by the Barrow river flowing through it, part of the town is in Laois and part in Offaly. There are two GAA clubs as a result, Portarlington play in the Laois championship and the Offaly side are called Gracefield.

Always a bit of banter around town when we get drawn together in the Leinster championship.
