Kildare and Armagh --a game to look forward too.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Think this could be game of the weekend, both teams really eager to get promoted, Geezer will have Kildare fired up but Armagh are a very good side, McDonnell is on fire but Ronan Clarke will be a loss. Last year Armagh beat us but we nearly sneaked it at the end when Mickey Conway missed a penalty. Kildare forwards were very impressive against Donegal, John Doyle roasted Kevin Cassidy and Ken Donnelly took Karl Lacey to the cleaners which does not often happen. I am going for a Kildare win by 2 pts.

I fancy kildare for this one too. That said, i think Armagh will go further than Kildare in the championship and are real dark horses for the all-ireland.

I'll look forward to this one too. Hard to know where armagh are though. They played well but were lucky to get out of laois with a win. While kildare were excellent against donegal.

Think Armagh have too many ordinary players at the minute. Whilst id love to see them win I too fancy Kildare. Dont think either Mackin or Donaghy are good enough. Surely they werent up to the first 15 before and are only in now due to retirements. That to me doesnt auger well for the future of Armagh football. Glad to see Henderson gettin a run and also positive to have Dyas back although it doesnt look like he'll be fit. Should be a tough contest. Dont believe either county has a realistic shout at Sam.

Yes has the makings of a good game alright with two good teams and the return of McGeeney. Division 2 is so tight and difficult to predict and whoever wins this one will get a huge boost in their drive for promotion. I fancy Armagh to win it by a point or two.

Should be a cracking alright, looking forward to a nice northern sojourn on Sunday.

It's going to be a close game I reckon, with a point or two winnig margin for Kildare. The return of John Doyle last week was a huge boost, the half back line is looking good and our forwards are putting up some good scores.

For Armagh though, O'Rourke seems to have given the team a much more attack minded emphasis, and theire forwards will surely do some damage to our full back line.

Got to be optimistic though and I think we can win the battle in midfield and give ourselves the platform to put in a tough performance and win by the minimum.

Flood in for Kildare

Kildare and Maynooth keeper Paul Flood
12 March 2010

The continuing rotation of goalkeepers by Kieran McGeeney is the only change to the Kildare side for their NFL meeting with Armagh.

Paul Flood takes over from Thomas Corley and that is the only alteration to the side which saw off Donegal by eight points last weekend.

Kildare (NFL v Armagh) - P Flood; E Bolton, D Hendy, H McGrillen; G White, M Scanlon, K Cribbin; D Flynn, D Earley; D Whyte, P O'Neill, J Doyle; K Ennis (0-2, frees), J Kavanagh, K Donnelly.

I'm starting to feel a bit more confident about this now I see Karl Ennis has already scored two frees for us.

Flood in goal is an interesting choice, has been solid and consistent for Maynooth over the last few years and can land his kick outs around half way with ease, could be very beneficial for Flynn and Earley with the mark.

Kildare should win this . Played excellently last week , the only dodgey area was between the posts . . And it looks like geezer is addressing that . Lillies will surely be serious contenders for AI this year

very hard game especially with clarke now out, other players are going to have to step up to the plate, mc donnell cant do it all on his own, im sure geezer will have him closely watched. midfield will be crucial, dermot early is one of the best about, id like to see charlie vernon playing after his performance against westmeath. Armagh to shade it

Should be a good one alright, hard to know what way it will go. For some reason i thought it was in St Conleth's in Newbridge, with Ronan Clarke out it would have tipped it in favour of Kildare for me.
Crossmaglen is going to be a different story though as Armagh are usually fairly strong at home, they would need to improve on the Laois showing though. I did feel they were very lucky to get out with a win against us, a draw would have been a fair result.
All in all, with the form Kildare are in currently I reckon they may just shade it.
