Kerry look to be weaker than in previous years, but you still can't look past the usual protagonists of Kerry, Cork and Tyrone. Maybe Galway, Mayo, Dublin and a couple of others have more of a chance this year, but can't see any major shock.

Tongo, I think Mayo winning would be a shock!

It will be between Cork, Kerry and Tyrone

But I think looking at the hunger aspect to it... then for me it's Cork.

I think it'll be Corks year in the football.

I suppose so blu. Although I think it would be fair to say that Mayo are still viewed as one of the potentials each year. I always think half the fun of the Champo is which unfancied county has a bit of a run. In recent years we've seen the likes of Sligo, Antrim, Wicklow, Kildare, Fermanagh and Wexford have decent summers, so it'll be interesting to see which county comes out of the woodwork this year, be in the provincials or through the qualifiers.

Ehhhm Thanks? :) I really think it's Cork time to shine.... they'll be the team to beat. Even if they lose Munster... I hate to say it because I believe in the importance of the provincial championships but losing Munster may be a blessing in disguise for them.

Interesting view on Cork not being so keen to win Munster this year Jimbo... I suspect you might be right. The thing is, I don't think Kerry will be too interested in collecting another Munster crown either, unless they can achieve it while training to peak for later in the summer, so it mightn't be a bad year to put money on Limerick or Tipp for the football title down there...

As for the A-I, it pains me to say Kerry or Tyrone again... I'd like to see a change, just for the sake of it. I think Cork blew a great chance last year and for a lot of their experienced players, not for the first time, so think this year might be more difficult for them. They'd still be my next tip after the Red Hand and Kingdom brigades. Someone out of Meath, Mayo, Galway, Derry, Down, Donegal, Kildare, The Dubs or Monaghan will be there towards the end and may even make the final, with Meath for Leinster and Derry or Down for Ulster... still think Galway will likely take Connacht, it'll mean more to them this year than to Mayo.

Hopes... Mayo to win, or at least make the final, if not, then a Leinster side, just for a change...

I fancy Down to be the team to come out of the wood work this year! They may not win ulster but they might do a bit of a wexford in 08 and have a long enough summer!!

I don't think this is true, I think Kerry will be blown away by Mayo in the QF, who will be ripped to pieces by Tyrone in the SF, who will be brutally beaten by Derry in the Final. (possibly in my dreams)

I also think Tipp might pull some strings in the Hurling, but that's besides the point.

I think Cork will be able to go that bit further and win it this year. Its last chance saloon for Canty etc so they will be hungry for it.
