Dublin Chairman comparing Gavin to Cody

Interesting comments. Dangerous though as others might see it as arrogant. On first view I thought 'you what mate??' but then after thinking about it, he has a point.

Certainly Gavin has created a sporting machine in Dublin. Thee are a lot of comparisons but it is early days. Cody did a 4 in a row, a 6 out of 7, beat 4 different teams in successive finals and also won two final replays. Gavin is going for three in a row, like Cody has set his stall out to win National Leagues and is overseeing a production line of talent into the first team so it is a case of perform or bye bye. He has won a replay, beaten the biggest competitors in Kerry & Mayo in finals. Another comparison is both defend their players when needed and both can be tetchy with the media.

Jesus he was talking in terms of longevity that he would love to see Gavin in charge for many more years he was not talking about achievements.

Eh I'm pretty sure he meant timewise. As in Gavin could manage Dublin as long as Cody has

Yeah I know what you both mean & it was longevity but I don't think that longevity would happen unless the team was winning with him at the helm?

I'd love to Gavin stay on

His preparation and application is very impressive

He's also had to learn his lessons the hard way. There's sometimes no better way!

But you either win or learn and he's very much done both with great success.

His work with the U21's can never be underestimated either... pivotal in shaping the current side before and after.

That doesn't mean he has to be as successful as Cody is. The comparison begins and ends at the time spent at the helm in my opinion. There's nothing to suggest he meant otherwise imo.

Could ye imagine if Cody had all his championship games at home and had all the money and population available to him that Jim gavin has, he'd have had a ten in a row.

Has anyone else noticed a lot of other managers trying to copy some of his measures, imitation and what not.

Could you imagine that if Dublin only had to play two games to make an AI final how many times we would have got our hands on Sam. Thirty eight at least I'd say. ..

If we had every game at home and all the funding we'd have 70 AIs even taking Dublin's ludicrous population advantage

If you rotated Ireland 180 degrees we'd be Kerry.

That's not true. We don't get to pick our own refs. Obviously we do have a veto if we don't like who the GAA pick for us, but we don't pick them ourselves...........
