Best clubhouse

(Oldest Posts First)

Hi guys,

Could be a contentious topic.......

Which GAA club has the best clubhouse in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Belfast, Limerick and Waterford?

I'm thinking in terms of the cities and urban areas and not at the county level.

Cheers!

St Pauls in Belfast is quite impressive, although it's about 10 years since i was in it.

Describe best ??????????
I personally love going into an old clubhouse with plenty of club memorabilia going back over the years on the walls , a place that does not look like a pub or hotel , a place were you feel like a member.
It should show GAA when its on.
Parnell's in Coolock resembles a hotel carvery lounge so not there , my own clubhouse decent but not enough photos.
In no particular order I like
St Annes
Fionnbars
Innisfails

na fianna and st olafs in dublin

na piarsaigh and claughan in limerick - tendancy in county limerick not to have clubhouses with bars,

-rugby clubs tend to have a lot of memorabilia e.g. internationals , lions old jerseys etc enjoyable to have a wonder through

Some of the best for me would be:

Mallow, Cork
Clonakilty, Cork
Donaghmore Ashbourne, Meath
Parnells, Dublin
Erins Own, Lavey, Derry

Not any more GM, GAA social clubs in Belfast in decline, quite a few have closed and some only open at weekends. Insurance costs hammering a lot of them.

Some very good playing and training facilities though

St Galls have possibly the best changing rooms about.

Perhaps in Belfast but not in the County. If it is clubhouses alone then would say Con Magees have the best around for changing rooms (players and refs), facilities, Gym, Sauna etc. They also have 2 playing pitches and a floodlight training pitch. But if you are talking overall facilities then other clubs like Dunloy, Tir na Nog and Creggan, who all have indoor training facilities/pitches as well as a couple of playing pitches each and Creggan also having a 3G pitch too ( I am probably forgetting to mention some clubs too!), would be in the contenders for overall club facilities. In fact, coming to think of it the best facilities of the club facilities I have been around in the last few years are all rural based.

I was randomly at a duathlon in BallyBay, Co Monaghan and the after reception was in the football clubhouse - WOW, impressive! The club house, the pitches and the facilities were amazing - Monaghan lads might expand on this but I doubt there much better around??

Also, they had the hurling All Stars of '88 on the wall and as a Galway man-this warmed by heart!

Gaelic Park - the longest bar in New York City.

One thing that really stood out for me was the difference in facilities from clubs in Mayo used to have compared to Kildare, Dublin etc but that has changed in the last 10 years.

i detect a slight touch of sarcasm there brick!!

Youse youngsters nowadays are spoilt!

It was always a challenge getting changed without upsetting the residents when we played in the Falls Park
