José Fitz and Zizou Guiney...

(Oldest Posts First)

What's it with the Yellowbellies being compared to soccer greats lately?

On Monday's GAA Hour Podcast, Ex Tipperary hurler Paddy Stapleton likened Jack Guiney to Zinedine Zidane for his unbelievable work-rate against Kilkenny and now today on Hogan Stand I see John Mullane comparing Davy Fitzgerald to the 'Special One' Jose Mourinho.

Any more similarities between the Yellowbellies and soccer greats?

Conor McDonald-Christiano Ronaldo?

Right.

The Zidane comparison with Guiney doesn't seem apt to me. Zidane was a creative genius more than a work horse.

Many hurlers like Richie Hogan, the McGraths from Tipp etc would seem more appropriate.

I would compare Lee Chin to Roy Keane on Saturday! Herioc, lead by example and went for every ball like his life depended on it. Just like Keano back in the day.

Leave it with me while I think of a footballer akin to John Mullane!
