When should you be liable for testing ??? At what grade ??? If your called into a county squad for training are you now eligible for testing .
At what stage do you draw a line in the sand and say they are amateurs playing junior B AND NO ONE GIVES A TOSS WHAT THEY DO TO THEMSELVES

Only Senior County players for me. I'm probably wrong on this and am open to correction, but aren't they the only ones open to being drug tested because they fall under the remit of the Irish Sports Councils drug testing regime due to the player grants?

Anyone have any idea how far down the levels,Soccer and Rugby test in this country for a comparison.

Only senior players for me although it's not uncommon for 16 or 17 year olds to be tested in other sports.

Technically all GAA members are eligible for testing although the focus is only on inter county players as it's one of the requirements to receive grants / expenses.

If over age of 18 and playing intercounty on a main side ie not a junior/intermediate county team they should be open to testing. Club senior should be able to get tested as well.

In rugby you can get tested if playing at AIL level ie senior club rugby

We'd be in serious bother if we were to be tested of a Sunday morning.

my son plays club senior championship , he is in process of doing his leaving cert , he has never received a cent in funding in his life , he has never worn county colours but you believe in the middle of his leaving cert he's fair game ??? Hes applied for colleges and his career will always be club only , he started playing senior when 17 , are you still of the opinion club senior players should be tested , also considering there are 32 clubs in Dublin playing senior football alone before we even start on hurling add in the other counties , any idea of the cost implications.

As bizarre as it sounds though that's the wording according to the GAA itself.

All members are eligible to be tested but the only specific mention to testing being carried out relates to senior inter county players though - after matches or out of competition.

Not sure what the LGFA rules are but I'd imagine they're pretty similar - only 4 tests carried out on female players each year since 2013.

Yes. Why does him doing his leaving cert come into the equation and why does playing for free and never having received funding come into the equation?
Yes senior club players should be tested. Its unlikely an individual club player will be tested but the threat should be there. There wont be regular testing like every round of a club competition but there should be an element of testing in the club game

Doing an amature sport , during his leaving cert , never getting a cent , just a club player, I say anyone and I mean anyone go near him , they'd be on a drip for the rest of their lives, that may not sound too nice of paint me in a nice light , but I'm pretty certain I'm not alone in those being my thoughts , my other son plays at county level under 17 minor different ball game someday hopefully
