If Carlow were to win at the weekend

Would it be THE biggest upset in GAA history? In both codes...?
Would it eclipse the Wmeath lads beating KK last year?

Is it even remotely possible?

It is as close to impossible as can be.

I think you'd need half the Dublin panel to come down with food poisoning or a virus the morning of the game for it to even remotely within the realm of possibility.

Wont happen don't see it not in a month of Sundasy there isn't the slightest bit of evidence to support the notion, now after stating what I believe is the blatant obvious I will possibly be accused of not showing Carlow due respect ,
Biggest upset , not going to answer in the history of the GAA safe to say biggest in my lifetime in a game following Dublin .

What would be the biggest GAA upset at the moment? I would go with the Kerry hurlers beating Waterford in 1993. It was their first championship win in 67 years.

IF Carlow somehow were to pull it off this weekend surely its the biggest upset in the history of the GAA.

Paddy Power offering odds of 25/1. That would be some lift on a Saturday of a June bank holiday.

They couldn't, could they?

Did Waterford not also upset Kerry in the football championship at some point? May have been back in the 1950s.

Limerick beat cork 16 6 in the 00s in football. That and the manor was a shock.

It was indeed Gleebo. It was in the wonderful Wee year of 1957 Louth's heaven. It was Waterford's first championship win over the Kingdom in 46 years.

Clare beating Kerry in 1992 Munster final maybe?
Donegal beating Dublin in same year perhaps?
Westmeath beating KK last year?
Limerick beating Cork in Cork by ten points in the 00's in football?

Yep, 1957 they beat Kerry by a point, a Kerry team that had won the All-Ireland in 1955 and would win 8 Munster titles that same decade.

It's definitely up their as one of the biggest shocks in GAA history but as someone posted above we got our revenge in the small ball in 93.

Staying in that era did Carlow not beat Dublin in the LSF final 1944

Also pro ráta, did Clare not beat the mighty Kerry in the Munster SF final in 1994 when Clare was comparable and still is to carlow. and did Leitrim not win their Connaught SF final against all the odds

You getting worried Liam ?

If we get to within 12 points that would be an achievement.

And if your lads can keep the streakers down to 12 as well, that would be great.

They did, but i recall my late father saying that actually wasnt a shock result and many expected Carlow ro prevail on that occasion.

Westmeath beating Kilkenny wasn't that big a shock as KK have been brutal at u21 for the previous couple of years

A free pint in Tully's for the whole town I'd imagine. Great imagination. I'd safely say it almost would surpass Leicester city winning the English prem last year. Carlow for Sam!

As far as I'm concerned I'd be saying, so what, big deal, monster or not its just another game, but worth waiting for none the less.

I think it would be the biggest gaa upset ever. It's possibly the best team of all time, winners of the All Ireland last 2 years, Leinster 6 years in a row up against a team that has been in Div 4 forever, has only won 2 Leinster championship games in 11 years and only 3 years ago finished bottom of Div 4.

There is absolutely no chance of Carlow winning or even keeping it close. The handicap for the game is set at 19 points.
We had a great win against Wexford, but they are a fellow Div 4 side. Yes we have improved this year, but also managed to lose at home to London during the league.

I'd happily take a fairly respectable 12 point defeat right now, and then we move on to qualifiers against teams we can compete with.
Remember Longford getting a 27 point hammering off Dublin a couple of years ago, just hope something like that doesn't happen us.

Be great craic going through the back door the quater finals and semi final would be some laugh as well.

You never know, with Dublin entering a transitional phase and all.
