Bernard Brogan. No one else comes close for me. His performance in Omagh in the NFL was something else.

51longago you are pathetic......were you watchin the same games as the rest of us (including yesterday).....really is any Mayo supporter in any position to speak.. considerin your Ciaran Mc's and any other so-called Mayo Stars, choked every time they ever came to Croke Park....You havent and probably NEVER will have a lad in Bernard's class down in Mayo. The Green-Eyed Monster is an awful thing. There wasent one Dublin Commentator on the panel of The Sunday Game yesterday and yet every one of them could not have praised or spoken highly enough of Bernard. Think its about time Mayo people started lookn at their own side and lookin out for REAL talent instead of begrudgin us Dubs who are blessed with such Greats as Bernard Brogan........Cmon the Brogans, an incredible family who have given massif service to Dublin football......

753827 Bernard Brogan by a mile....Rhodejim you know very little about Gaelic football, obviously suffer from the typical anti-Dublin bias too....Youre makn a bit of a laughn stock of yourself passin such remarks bout Bernard on this forum.....The commentators on the Sunday Game yesterday described him as one of the best Gaelic players (from any county) ever ........He is a spectacular player , in a class of his own.....

Slightly sensational that, great player but imo not in the category of, Gooch, Joyce, Maurice, O Sullivan, Ciaran Mac, Stevie Mcdonnel, Peter Cannavan, Sean Cavanagh but give it another year or two and of course he might be regarded in that league. only my opinion.

Thats what i ment. I hate to quote Eamonn Dunphy but..... He's a good player, not a great player. I was probably a little harsh on him (hungover and all that), he's had a great season and had a very good game yesterday. Interestingly enough, Pat gilroy deserves alot of praise for the way he set out dublin this year. gave B.Brogan the freedom of the whole forward line and in fairness he responded emphatically.

You spouted this nonsense before so I'll re enlighten you.
"One sideline ball", when did you start watching football, 2001 I'd guess? did you watch the 97 AI final, (oh wait you dont count AI victories if they're against Mayo) Fitz destroyed Mayo all on his own, scored 9 points (one from the ground with the left peg on the side line), won vodafone and texaco footballer of the year that year .

You saw him in 2001 banging an outrageous point over against Dublin and assume thats all he ever did, long after he had produced some of the finest displays for Kerry, in one of the worst periods of Kerry football. Those of us who watched him plug away tirelessly against Cork between 1988 and 1995 with little reward remember some of the finest performances in a Kerry jersey. In Mick O Dwyers book he told how he would always struggle to put a new young fella in to mark him in training, because his confidence would be in tatters after the roasting he'd get from Maurice.

Maurice Fitz is among the finest players to ever wear green and gold and that includes the Gooch.

Bernard Brogan is the player of the year, has consistently been class all year and a joy to watch in both league and c'ship. Strength, speed, skill, accuracy, argument over.

Borgan deserves it definitely. Has been brilliant. Not in the Gooch, Cavanagh, McDonald class yet, but very near another year like this and he defo will be.

I cant understand why people are picking players of the year on their display in one or maybe two games! Brick Walsh is an excellent player but was totally out hurled in Croker last week end. I saw somebody suggesting Damien Hayes. Again Hayes only had one good game (against Tipp). Tommy Walsh is an excellent player and likewise Brendan Maher. We'l call this one after the All Ireland:-)

Number one> I am not pathetic.

Number two> Ciaran Mac and co didnt exactly choke against jacks in 06.

Number three> You and the rest have selective gaa memories, those Mayo players you say have chocked every time in croker, how in the name of god have we contested 4 finals since Dublins last show? I mean where were all the semis Mac played in held? 97, 04, 06?

Number four> Brogans are indeed a fine footballing family, sure how could you go wrong with a Kerry/Mayo bloodline? Brogan is a Mayo name sure.
