Well theroad, you have certainly been the most biased "neutral" on the thread.

The club as a whole needed to be punished because of the behaviour of their members and supporters in Portlaoise. Banning a few individuals that happened to be caught on camera does nothing to address the aggression and intimidation displayed during and after the game by a large number of the Derrytresk staff and following. All players and officials are entitled to enter and leave the playing field in a dignified manner without the threat of violence.

I have yet to hear Mr. Breheny, Mr. Harte or any other commentator address this issue. This is what really galled the neutrals, stewards and people of Droimid in Portlaoise. Please read the comments made by the Laois chairman in the following link. link

The club as a whole, players, officials and supporters acted in a disgraceful manner and deserve their punishment. If Derrytresk win the title I'm sure speeches will be made thanking every man, woman and child in the community for their contribution yet when it comes to taking their punishment its a different story. You reap what you sow.

tyronetim, you admit there was blame on both sides, correct? so what do you want punishment wise on both sides? the derrytresk subs ploughed in over the hoardings, and i think i m right in saying 3/4 of them got banned out of 7- i stand corrected. so more or less the same amount of on field players got banned from both sides? so where is the unbalanace etc? i asked 3 times now about what should have been handed out by the letter of the law, not who started what, or ladies with handbags, and i still cant get an answer!

There was an imbalance in the initial fine 2500 v 5000, there was also an imbalance in that Derrytresk got banned from club competition outside tyrone for 5 years whereas Dromid didn't receive any such ban. There are 2 imbalances for you. Unlike the road I am an actual neutral (the unbiased variety) I believe that the individuals involved from both clubs should be banned for varying lengths of time. I do not agree with fining either club and I certainly don't agree with banning any club from participating in gaelic games as to take this action is nonsensical and downright ludicrous. I also feel that both clubs let themselves down by their actions.

i m surely neutral, not from either province.. i think the fines and the further club ban are for the subs invading the playing area - club had no control over them. i m not sure if the lady with the handbag incident was also taken into account.. the fine has since been reduced to 2500. i dont know did dromid appeal theres which would mean parity there.

1100921 I have just watched the footage of the "brawl" for the first time today. On first impressions I am absolutely astounded that this incident has received the level of media attention that it has. Was there a different row that the camera's didn't catch were someone was actually hurt?

The solution is very simple, a suspension for the Derrtresk guy with the clip board for the uncalled for trip. If a woman hit DS with a handbag she should be banned.

What I can't understand is the outrage from supporters of Dromid who clearly contributed to the escalation of the whole thing.

Both teams would need to take a hard look at themselves as neither of them covered their selves in glory. But this hysteria is bordering on the ridiculous and it only serves to give ammunition to people who want to detract from these counties or our games.

The Road, it took me 5 seconds to find the above post

Tom1916 are you backing The Road or contradicting him? Because you are backing his point here

No Dromid just went crying to the knight of the british realm sir tony o'reilly and the other great exponent of the GAA Joe duffy and dragged the association through the mud.

I havent come across any tyrone poster yet who has been willing to contemplate the possibility that derrytresk were in the wrong

superglue, I'm contradicting him. I just clicked on a random page and came across that post.

The road stated "I havent come across any tyrone poster yet who has been willing to contemplate the possibility that derrytresk were in the wrong"

I came across this statement from a Tyrone poster "The solution is very simple, a suspension for the Derrtresk guy with the clip board for the uncalled for trip. If a woman hit DS with a handbag she should be banned.

What I can't understand is the outrage from supporters of Dromid who clearly contributed to the escalation of the whole thing.

This clearly shows a Tyrone poster acknowledging that Derrytresk were wrong as he wouldn't be calling for any suspensions or sanctions if he felt they did nothing wrong.

Yes Brolly you are right, this is my last contribution on this. Lock er down.

I have watched the full dvd. Not as bad as the the media are making out. Derrytresk were clearly the more aggressive team and put in a few big hits. But it has made way to much headlines. The subs coming out of the stand was a disgrace.

That a valueable link there GEGA to the Laois chairmans view of events. The Kerry lads were lucky this game was played in a civilized location like Portlaoise but perhaps a bigger Garda presence at pitchside is needed the next time.

Not a lot in it at all. I didn't see a punch thrown just a bit of pushing and shoving !!
Some of the Kerry lads getting a bit soft too and looking for bans !!
